Nationwide shortage of resources (openreach) wtf?

Im assuming you have done all the checks you can? tested with another dsl filter, a different router, swapped all the cables, make sure its in the master socket, if it is, try the test socket behind the master socket? filtered all the phone sockets as thats a classic example of what the problem could be if the phone rings and adsl dies.

If not then looks like a line issue.

I havent as yet. Been working a lot so the last thing I want to be doing is messing with that lot. I will have a crack this weekend as I have time off, I have plenty of kit ready including filters and a new router. I did all this a few years back and it turned out to be a problem at the exchange and the bt bloke took 3 hours doing tests on it .

I went and bought an adsl nation face plate after it was fixed and I hope that hasnt gone and failed, supposed to be highly regarded bits of kit.

If you haven't already tried it then I am pretty sure your problem is down to your filter set-up.

Try filters first then router, plug one filter in to the master socket, have the router connected to that filter, then filter any other sockets in your house that are being used (even sky).

Good luck with the fixing :)

I got to see the shortage this afternoon. Well actually, I got to see nothing.

Enta had been given this afternoon as my appointment for my FTTC upgrade at home. BT engineer never showed up

That sucks. At least you'll have an up to 40Mb/s service soon. Some of us are stuck on 1.6Mb/s until March 2011. :p

Turns out it wasn't an engineer shortage, just an OpenReach ****-up

“After several long conversations with BT today, they have concluded that the order was cancelled due to order validation within Openreach's system. After further investigation this appears to be a system error which my contact is now dealing with.”
