Natwest Advantage Gold Account?

I have had a AG account with Natwest for about 2 years now...and its only just occured to me that I am paying out money to have this account which really doesnt do much for me...

They say they have loads of offers which can save me this and that, but actually I dont need any of them

And to top it of, regarding their' latest booklet on this account, are now charging £12 a month??!?!?!

£120 a year for this account

I guess I could request going back to their Current Plus? account, but would need to get a new debit card?

Just thought I'd mention it, and/or who do you think has the best "normal current account"?

Oh..no, sorry...I did, but when I signed up for this account there was a charge of £8, but I didnt think much of it as the lady said I could do this and that etc...Life cover with a payout of £10,000 etc..

Its only when I received this booklet a few weeks back I noticed it had now jumped £4, and when I read through this booklet it finally hit home that I didnt need any of it?!

So re-convert the account back to Current Plus, simple, surely?

I will, but does anyone recommend any other accounts out there?

I have been looking at Halifax/Abbey etc...

I upgraded to the Advantage Gold account at the recommendation of a Natwest teller. The first month was free and you got an instant 1% APR discount on personal loans (which is why I was there).

As the Natwest employee recommended, cancelled it 3 weeks later, no charge and you keep the 1% discount.

I have nothing but praise for Natwest, a great bank.
