So its been a little while since I've gotten a cool gadget, my last one being my Galaxy S5, which, lets face it, is a smart phone that does the same thing as smart phones before it, but looks a little nicer and runs faster.
So I'm thinking. This thing can do wireless charging, great! Might get that. But I was then considering the groan factor of still having to plug it in to transfer between my pc (I know, first world problems eh!) and I looked in to short range wireless solutions. NFC is too slow, Bluetooth is maxed out around 24mbit.
Considering modern technology as it is, have I missed a trick here? Our wifi router is pants, wireless g a few rooms away and the landlord refuses to change it. I wont be getting a router just for the pc to tablet / phone as I would lose internet when switching. Surely there is a tech out there which allows point to point communication with devices over short distances at high speeds?
I am not looking for an answer with the word 'cables' in it lol.

My camera will set up an adhoc wifi connection with my iPad to transfer images, works well but it's a pain as I have to disconnect from my home wifi and connect to the camera manually each time.

You have no hope without using either cables, a router or physically removing the sd card.

Networking to a computer without wires requires a router
