NEARLY 2 YEARS WAITING: New Mustang GT PP is finally mine!

Yes, I could tell it wasn't slow... it was quick it's just the delivery didn't make it feel that quick... much more GT-esque.

My 2001 XKR (4.0 supercharged) had more of a torque kick in the back... while being heavier and less peak power.

I can imagine one of these with a supercharger will be epic and I note the chassis feels like it can handle the extra power easily... it feels like it's been designed for a tuned/charged engine like the last gen Shelby 650 or whatever it was called... then the charger has been taken off for the standard engine. That's how it felt to me today anyway...

It was fun, I was just expecting that bit more from it... I still have a craving for the E92 high-revving V8, almost spoiled by that wonderful engine & my current flat-6.

The charged 5.0 V8 Jag engine has that kick I'm looking for.

I guess it left me wanting to know *if* a charged version of this car will leave me happy having spent £45-50k on a new and modded car... or if I would be better investing that money elsewhere.

Would be great if I could find someone with one already modified to take me for a ride.

My real craving is for a Viper GTS... I've found them for sale over here, for 129,900 CHF new (about £90k at the moment).

I'm talking about the M2, not the M235i... although they will be quite similar, I'm expecting the usual M improvements to the front end.

I too find the engine to be the most exciting part of a car and as the M4 disappointed, I think the M2 probably will too... but it's worth trying to be certain.

M2 is still an S6 with a turbo, going to be similar to M4 but with less torque. The M2 comes back by being a little less weight and a more focused car, so you may like it for that.

Remember Mustang GT PP is Fords just run of the mill Mustang, the one they sell huge volumes off. This is why in a way its upsetting but also good reviewers compare it against far more expensive BMW's, Jaguars etc.

If the GT 350 was available in UK, I'd have one and it would be far more interesting to see reviews of the 350 vs M4, F-type and other stuff because the 350 is the true competitor to such cars, not the GT.

Also the GT500 is rumoured for 2018, expect GT350 handling but a lot more power no doubt using the 5.0 engine though.

To answer your question a supercharged Mustang GT is beyond crazy, as long as you go with a roots style blower, the ones that develop huge torque down low, makes them great fun and very peaky. Roush/Ford or Whipple is the best bet for super charger, as huge torque, insane power but reliable and true bolt-on that you can do yourself easily.

Couple of videos to give you an idea of how fast a Mustang is with a Roush or Whipple super charger, engines are stock, transmissions are stock so this is $6000-$8000 worth of supercharger kit.

Though I have complained about how the stock Mustang GT PP feels a bit soft in the rear, don't think of this as its a poor handling car, afterall it and the M4 are lapping circuits within 1s of each other, it is by no means slow on a track:

You can see in the corners it is very stable and has great speed, it is only lacking in power as that above is a completely stock car even down to the Pzero tyres. :)

I wouldn't expect GT350 handling from the 500, it's never been that way, and doubtful it will ever be. It will be a drag strip car as always whereas the 350 is their track "road course" car.

Definitely change those tyres to MPSS Mr. White, you'll find them far better in all conditions. I loathe P-zero's, and every single car, even the exotics I've owned, I've replaced them immediately.

True but the S550 kind of changed the handling expect of Mustangs for the better and Ford have the Cobra as all out drag racer. I can see the new GT500 being incredibly capable at everything, a road course, race circuit, a drag strip it will eat them all up no problem.

I can see the GT500 if they do it being a pretty sorted car this time round, maybe not quite as precise or the all out cornering ability of a 350 but I suspect close and with a huge amount more power to make up for any time lost on the twistier bits. :D

The last GT500 was a dog, an incredible engine but it had very poor handling it and the BOSS 302 were miles apart on a circuit to the point that the BOSS 302 with less power was still faster round a circuit. I suspect GT500 will be very capable come corners and have great power. :)

Love the way the Mustang wiggles into 3rd gear in the first video... that must be a giggle.

Comparing this Mustang to the GT350 is like comparing 435i to M4 :)

Yes but reviews don't compare the Mustang GT to a 435i which would be more advisable, instead they compare it to the more expensive M4. So I guess it says something if they feel the Mustang compares to the M4 more than it does a 435i but fact is the Mustang should be compared to 435i. The 350 is what should be compared to an M4, but as its un-available unlikely to happen.

I hear this time and time again from various people, why on earth do manufacturers fit them?

Car manufacturers get Pzero's for £1 per corner. :D

Had this part for months, just held of fitting until I had my rear spoiler/wing sorted.

So here is the Steeda front splitter fitted:

I am really very happy with how this turned out, I do not like the APR carbon one because it sticks out a lot more and the carbon finish does not go with rest of the car and the rubber lip on the edge of the carbon looks wrong.

I like this Steeda part as its the same surface as the stock GT trim but a little darker so it does not hide the GT PP front valance lines, its come out great, subtle but aggressive.

Hopefully later this week I will get the RTR side skirts and rear splitters fitted and then just waiting for the Ford Shelby 350 track pack spoiler to arrive.

Hi there

Was about to order my wheels tonight and MMR who make specific Mustang fit forge wheels just announced a new Forge wheel:

Being a Mustang specific wheel I can get any size and offset made along with any finish, though I'd probably go with liquid silver which is a clean gloss silver/grey. The bad news they are Forged, could be expensive but no doubt around 10kg per wheel, have to wait for pricing, but really like them and the fact they are Mustang specific designed wheel is desirable. :)

I had settled to order HRE FF15's flowformed wheels as seen here:

I absolutely love the look of those and the colour is liquid silver which would work on my car even better.

But gonna hold out for the MMR FS02 as its so unique, has more size options and could be similar price and I prefer the design as though very similar I think it suites the Mustang better which one would expect as its Mustang specific wheel. :)

Surely best to just colour the ones you have already ?

They are heavy and they wont take wider tyres unfortunately. Even though the design and colour has grown on me hugely since lowering the car and changing offsets so they sit flush I still prefer a different design and a slightly darker silver colour. :)

I have to say it looks good as it is, splitter works I think.

I was so unsure about it, fitted it and had that feeling inside when you think to yourself, oh yeah you done good that looks awesome. Garage who fitted it were like this is not a show piece, its real deal and will put more downforce on front of car hence its size and why its bolted up so securely.

The few people who have seen it, when they eventually spot it are like wow that is really nice, aggressive yet subtle. :)

Hi there

Wheels ordered in 20x10" ET32 fronts (275/35/20 MPSS) and 20x11" ET55 rears (295/35/20 MPSS). :)

I know its not a Mustang, but watch this video:

That is Ford/GM's new 10-speed auto box, listen to those shifts and rumoured to shift faster than BMW's lastest DCT, hugely impressive from GM and Ford. :)

Will be an option in GM's latest 2017 Camaro ZL1 and 2017/2018 Mustang. :)

Damn that's nice, I can still return the Mustang within 28 days right ? :D

The ZL1 is US only and comes later this year.

But I think GM and Ford are knocking out some of the best drivers cars at the moment with huge performance, just wish more would come to the UK.

U.K. Might see this 10 speed auto though in the Mustang for 2018 replacing the current auto.

RTR side splitters and rear splats fitted, uses all OEM retainers, very easy to do. :)

Compliments the Steeda front splitter very well, car looks seriously low and wheels look smaller now I think so 20" required but might just be me imagining it.

no it's definitely not a Mustang...........a Mustang looks good, that's ugly as hell

I've never being keen on Camaro's but its not ugly as hell, but does look like a great showcase for Ford/GM's new joint operation 10-speed auto, seems very quick.

Mustang and Challenger are best looking muscle cars full stop along with Corvette but some would argue the Corvette is a true sports car and not muscle car.

The ZL1 looks absolutely fantastic, 640bhp in the lightweight chassis of the new Camaro? Where do I sign?

It's also pretty cool that the guy in charge of Global Product Development at GM can drive on the track like that. Mary Barra, CEO, is also a petrolhead. Good times at GM. :)

Yes and the Camaro has always being great handling car and the latest version is even better. To be honest the new stuff from GM and Ford handle really well its only the Challengers/Chargers that are lacking in that respect but if they are still working with Mercedes then next gen Challenger could be incredible if the new C63 GTS coupe is anything to go by as that is one of the best handling cars on the market and they even gave it hydraulic steering.

Lets just hope GM come to UK like Ford have as official Camaro and Corvettes in EU/UK would shake things up a bit considering BMW, Audi and Mercedes don't even really have a car that can rival the Corvettes handling ability.

Just booked myself on the North Coast road trip. :)

There is a rough plan at the moment which is subject to change depending on numbers, but it’s looking something like this…

Thursday 21st - the “pre meet”
Location TBC but potentially Inverness Ford, depending on numbers. A place to meet new faces and discuss you journeys before we hit the roads in the following days.

Friday 22nd - the MNC500 begins
A morning set off with a meet somewhere picturesque around lunchtime, before heading off somewhere with a nice big car park and good food for the evening

Saturday 23rd - the main event
Saturday will be where all the fun happens. Again, depending on numbers, we are intending to organise some good food, drink & music - until late!

Sunday 24th - your day
Sunday will be yours to do what you wish, there is plenty to see and do.

Monday 25th - the farewell meet.
A final chance to meet up before we all hit the road until the next meet!

Can't wait, great views and so far about 12 Mustang's all going will convoy with my buddy in the yellow Mustang. :)
