Mine arrived today from a competitor as Overclockers could not ship it to me due to it's weight? Spoke to sales on the phone who confirmed this but despite being polite and helpful there was nothing they could do, a limitation with the courier it seems. Luckily the competitor had just one left in stock :)

Only had time for a cursory examination but hopefully tomorrow I can check it in detail and calibrate it. A very impressive looking monitor.

Here is a review from one of the Dons here: http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/reviews/nec_24wmgx3.htm

hegemon - Out of interest where are you located?

* Personal info removed *. Some additional info, the competitor sent it next day delivery using Parcelforce. I've also received heavier goods with another courier, Citylink. Just let me know if there is any other info you require ;)

Edit: Phoned the shop after trying to order it from the website as the only delivery option on website checkout was 'collect from shop', so called to clarify.

Hello, I've only just had the time to set this baby up, even though I received it on Tuesday. I only noticed one dead pixel, so I will count myself lucky. Just out of curiosity, what would be considered a lucky dead/stuck pixel count on a monitor this size? Do most people have no dead/stuck pixels?

I think I'm going to have to start playing modern games, so that I can check this for ghosting. I filled in a dark grey circle on a light grey background (as Sc00p007 recommended) to test this. I did noticed some ghosting,

I've got three quick questions as well please:

1) Is there a useful, but free software programme that I could use to check for backlight bleeding?

2) The same for ghosting?

3) I there a generally agreed an optimum calibration for DVI, if not any recommendations?

1) Just find a way to get a pure black screen (maybe open a player like Media Player Classic and put it in full screen without any video loaded or make a black image in MSPaint and view it full screen). Then dim the lights or close your curtains and you should be able to see backlight bleed, if there is any.

2) There are lots of websites and programs to test for things like this. Here's a very good LCD test site for stuff like this: http://www.lagom.nl/lcd-test/. However, the one thing that site doesn't have is a ghosting test. For that, use this: http://www.prad.de/download/pixperan_english.zip

3) There are a few. Examples:

By the way...has anyone figured out what the difference between the aspect options "16:9" and "16:9 Mode" are? I had a quick look in the manual and couldn't see anything. I've tried both and as far as I can tell they work in the same way, although "16:9 Mode" is sometimes greyed out... O_o

Oh man this is a bummer!! I was trying to buy this monitor @£570.00 after reading a recent review in Custom PC. It sounds like a really sweet display (especially the lack of input lag - a really big deal breaker for me if there is lag).

Sorry OcUK but I think I'll be looking @ the NEC AccuSync LCD2490WUXi as the price of the 2 monitors is converging (given that NEC wanted the LCD24WMGX at ~£600.00 - now the current price level at >£650.00).

I've had my AU5131 Iilyma 1600:1200 20.1" TFT for 6 years now - but I could do with a widescreen HD model. Trouble is a TFT monitor lasts so long :D - you got'a get the best (or resell)!!

I hope NEC are reading this thread. Guys, thats asking for TOO much and is putting a lot of people off! Lower the price to something more reasonable and I'll buy 2. :)

Unfortunately I don't think NEC are really concerned as it was costing them money to sell the product. While it's great for both us and you guys, it doesn't make any kind of financial sense for them.

I'll get a price on the LCD2490WUXi2 but it's nowhere near as cheap as the 24WMGX3.

Do you mean they are going to be selling this at a loss, when you say that it's going to be costing them money to sell the product?

I would have imagined that it's important to be competitive with this type of product, especialy in this current financial climate. :(

I persume you're still talking about the 24WMGX3...

NEC made this monitor EOL because they were making a substantial (not just £20-30 - more like £150-£200) on every single panel they sold. When it was released, the idea was that gamers would pay a premium for a premium panel. Unfortunately the £500 price tag was just too much leaving NEC with a massive overstock issue hence all these deals coming about. Even if the loss was only £100 per unit, we went through nearly 500 units for our last deal - that's a whopping £50000 loss to NEC and if what they say is true, it was more than that.

While it's important to be competitive, making that kind of loss isn't good business sense at all especially for NEC who specialise in premium monitors that generally make them a lot of wedge. Overstocking on any product for any business does damage which simply can't be sustained to remain healthy.

If however you're talking about the LCD2490WUXi2, they are making money on these as they're approx. £200 more.

Was only 3 left of the very last stock here, I'm so glad I bought mine would have been really ****ed off knowing what I do now having aquired one.

I've calibrated mine using some settings posted on a website can't remembers whose settings but their just perfect - I'll make a note & give the calbrated settings out on here.

As for colour production, amazing in Crysis compared to using my Dell 2407 WFP Rev 04 was worth the switch for definate. ;)
