Bit of a long shot asking on here but thought why not. Anyway I have a big 12kg cylinder that I need refilling with co2, the kind they use for fizzy pop in the pubs. Any ideas where I can get this done? Its for aquatic use.

I am finding most of the places only seem to deal with pubs and nopt the public, found one place but the number from yell.com gives me th enumber not recognised beep.

A company name or something I am likely to find in the Leeds/Bradford area would be great.

No Co2 is commonly used in the aquatic hobby for injecting into the water for the growth of plants. Most use a 500g bottle which the aqautic centres will refill, I went with a 12KG pub style bottle. :o

try finding your local welding suppliers in the yellow pages am sure theyl be able to do it

I work for BOC get my details in trust and I will help you out with us direct or one of our agents. Your cylinder won't be refilled it will be exchanged full for empty.

Edit

Quick word of advice any company that refills the cylinder rather than exchange full for empty is dodgy as hell and more than likeley not working to a safe practice

Still dodgy as hell and completely unsafe Lopez
I was talking about getting a new gas cylinder rather than refilling one. It's something I've spoken to my landlady about before.

I know I keep harping on about it being dodgy but trust me he doesnt want to do it. If the Landlady is doing it she is breaking the law. Its not her cylinder to sell or exchange as everyone pays rent on them. BOC, Air-Products, Air Liquide and Linde Gas are really cracking down on this kind of behaviour with zero tollerance. None of those companies sell on cylinders for customers to refill the cylinder. All of the cylinders are rent only. I know we have done a hell of a lot prosecutions on this very issue.

Im not being a goody goody or laying down law etc but I would hate to see someone get in trouble if there is an easier option. Its really not worth it for the sake of a couple of quid

Cheers Loki although I dont think the bottle belongs to BOC?

I got the bottle over a year ago from my Dads friend who used to own a bar and my Dad is no longer in contact with the guy so i cant exchange it with him.

There is a company name on it although I cant remember it off the top of my head and I googled it a week or so ago and the place was not local.

The cylinder does have a yellow tag around the top that says 2005 so I presume thats when it was last inspected rather than when it needs inspecting?

Heres a pic of it a while ago although I doubt it will help.

That would be the test ring on it. It gives a date when it should have been tested last to make sure its safe for use etc. So really its over a year outside its testing cycle.

Ah I see oh dear! I may give the company a bell tomorrow and see if they pick them up. If they deliver I can always rent a full one from them.

If it is who I think it is then they will be cheap as chips.

Good luck anyways. Any help needed drop me a line ;)

Just nipped out to the garage to get the info again, google brings it back as this place.

By the way what does it cost to rent say a 12KG bottle of food grade Co2 like the kind they use for the fizzy pop in pubs from BOC? I understand I will need to leave an initial deposit and then pay everytime to have it exchanged for a full one?

No Deposit required. Rent will be around £4.00 a month then each exchange around £9.00
