I have just been out with the camera and had a bit of a whoopsie by slipping down and putting the camera face down into the mud! Now its locked up n everything etc. Need to take it bits to properly clean it. Any guides ?

If not I will just buy another.

I don't know for certain, but I'm led to beleive that full disassembly of any lens is something that is only succesful with skilled pros - taking them apart is easy enough, it's putting it back togethor in a better condition than it originally was that's tricky.

Probably not what you want to hear, but your best bet is likely to get another. At least it was "only" the 50mm and not body damage // other pricier lenses!

I know (ive just set my msn messenger name to RIP so im sure Its past my skills)

So far I have taken the acutal lens from out of its external casing. Theres a few screws and plastic weird things taken from it but my problem now is removing the external moving ring from the inside bit. I cant do this for
1, Its set inside of two grooves
2, the circuit board is soldered to the motor and thats locked into place with several gears.

At this stage I have stopped as the only way forward I can see is to Force open.

Im shocked this lens's instore price is £90

Im dead sure I only paid £60 for it a year ago from the same place.

Think I wont be getting another but save up for the 50mm F1.4.

already have done. Will wait to get some replys.

Hoodi. yeah well its a steal at its bargin price (what I got it for) Whats the price of Nikons answer to it ?

About £100 I think. Can be had for more like £75 HK import, or like most things, a bit less if you really hunt.
Not sure what pricing of the Nikkor 50mm F/1.8 used to be like though..

Not that I actually have that lens. My 50mm prime is a Sigma F/2.8 macro jobby.
Am getting the Nikkor 85mm F/1.8 though :D

If you shop about the lens can be had for £73 online then plus postage. Thats UK sites as well the £73.
