Need a new car....

I bet it's factory mint at that money.

It's in very good condition thanks. Full service history, nothing wrong with body work and the interior is in very good condition too with no signs of wear. It's a nice spacious car ideal for me and my family and was in my budget range.

Not all of us can afford BMW, Audi etc so keep your stuck up opinions to yourself. I see a lot of posts from you belittling other people's car choices just because it's not a BMW. Perhaps those people can't afford one, or like me, don't like BMWs.

OP, sorry this has taken your thread off track somewhat.

I think Fox was talking about the Zafira.

The vectras are priced similarly to the same generation of mondeo, for obvious reasons. Yours sounds perfectly appropriately priced

The insignia the op was looking at, would I assume at least be the newer iteration of car. Horrible with a 1.6 anyway, The Mondeo would be a vastly more enjoyable car

How long have you had it? Any issues during ownership?

Ive found a few which look really good but cautious!

It was a sarcastic retort relating to the comedy price of a 2006 Zafira. £4.5k for an 8 year old Zafira is utter madness and you'd expect it to be perfect for such a high price but I bet it isn't.

£2.3k for a 7-8 year old Vectra seems perfectly reasonable.

What a bizarre rant. Nobody in this thread has mentioned BMW's or suggested BMW's or is comparing the available options against BMW's.

My coincidental ownership of BMW's has not an awful lot to do with my views on other brands. Funnily enough I am actually capable of objectively comparing cars. When I say a Vauxhall is crap, it's because I found it to be crap relative to similar cars not relative to BMW's

You really need to make your mind up about what you want and what you want to spend.

I wouldn't want a vectra for any more than a couple of grand. £4k is insignia money imo

Around £2k will buy you a 2007 Mondeo or vectra estate, to spend near £4k on one is poor value

This is the issue - I don't know what I really want except it needs to be estate size, reliable and petrol.

Are the petrol insignias any good? I know the diesels are ropey but I know nothing of the petrols.

Apologies Fox. It looked like (to me at least) that you were referring to the Vectra, not the Zafira as you had directly quoted my post.

I wasn't in the best of places yesterday so should probably have kept my mouth shut.

The above mondeo looks very good and they've confirmed any warranty work can be done at a VAT registered garage on their behalf.

Any reason not to check it ouf further?

No, but assume that any warranty not provided by the manufacturer is absolutely worthless, no matter what they tell you and go over the car as such

I get 3 months from the dealer but the car is well out of warranty!

Out of curiosity, whats the deal wirh Saab? Any good?

Bmw crap spec, plus it doesn't sound to me like you're prepared for the cost of BMW ownership tbh

9-3 - terrible car for the money. For a couple of grand fine, not for that kind of cash

Ok - Think I'll stick with the Mondeo.

The only thing putting me off is the discovery of a few bad reviews, 2 in the last 6 months. If their stats are right, and they're telling me they shift 100 cars weekley (pinch of salt?), should a few bad reviews matter?

I'm also not in a position to get there to test drive it....would it be wise to do so first?

I get the impression the car is in fantastic condition as per pics but still.....really struggling here and need your help. I plan to place a deposit tomorrow!

Never buy a car without driving it, even in an auction you'll get to roll it back and forward / hear it running.

Didn't see the xenon's on 325, still looks crap for the money imo
