need a new gaming mouse - advise please

Sidewinder X5 here and absolutely love it. But if I was buying now I would go Logitech simply because of the amount of posts on here about what great customer service they have. It would be nice to know I may get help if I had a problem, and also we should be supporting companies that actually care about a customer AFTER a sale.

+1 for Logitech customer support. Also owned a Logitech gaming mouse, forgot model but was very good and never went wrong.

I currently own the R.A.T 5 and think its a great mouse and would recommend it if you can afford, looks great imo and also top build quality.

It has lots of options for customisation and also lots of buttons. One of the buttons lets you reduce the mouse sensitivity whilst the button is being pressed, which is a nice addition for accurate shooting at distance in fps i have found. The button is on the side and is perfectly placed so is very easy to use - the sensitivty can also be fully adjusted.

Has a nice thumb scroll wheel as well, which i find very useful to macro for fps - i use it for reloading currently.

some hardcore games will still be picky about the so called lag on wireless mouses but casual gamers won't notice probably.

Very true indeed, the razer mamba was the only mouse that is wireless yet respected amongst gamers. Dont know if there is any wireless mice that come close now though? Mind you, you do pay through the nose for it ;)

There's thousands of these threads and Logitech MX518 is always the most voted for choice. I also like the G500.

Just gone from a G500 to Deathadder Respawn, its like night and day. (though i think i had a failing lazer or something in the G500 - major tracking issues of late)

Corepad XL under it and its fantastic.

to be honest that is the one i want, how do you find the cable? as my wee shuttle pc sits inches away from my mouse on my desk, so i presume im gonna have to drap the 7ft cable somewhere? is it really 7f? :D

Yeah the cable is quite long, dunno if its 7 foot though, that seems a lot lol.

But thats good as i can hide most of it and pin it so i dont have it getting caught or dragging while gaming. :)

its a damn fine mouse though, think i am a Razer convertee, after being a long time Ligitech fan.
