I'm doing my first ever photography event!. I'm volunteering to be the photographer for a havering disabled fun day so I can get experience & get a chance to use my camera.

I'm taking my D60 & Tamron 17-55mm & 6 SD cards.

my questions are:
1.Should I be using the Tamron's Lens hood for 24/7 on the day?
2. what can I do to protect my camera (look like its going to rain on the day at this rate)

1. Use your lens hood as it will stop / reduce the chance of rain getting onto the lens and save you from having to wipe it every minute (depending on how heavy the rain is with you).

2. quick fix is something like a poly bag just knock a hole in the bottom of it to poke your lens through it. I'm out at the football today and I'll be using my rainsleeve (essentially a plastic bag) as its supposed to be peeing it down in the glasgow area later on. :( Something else you could use is a small hand towel / beer towel / golf towel to drape over the top of the camera / lens to keep the main parts dry or just simply shield it under a jacket until you see the shot you want.
