First of all Im VERY lucky to have a gaming pc that can run MOST games at max. I dont mean to sound like a cry baby! lol Unfortunatly i have urge to allways get better equipment! -_- Lol and i have around £150 spare so thought id look at getting an upgrade.. Okay this is my spec

Phenom 2 x4 3.6Ghz (oc'ed)

ddr3 Ram 4Gb

vista 64 Ultimate

Mobo: GA-MA790FXT-UD5P

GPU: 4870x2

1080p 24Inch monitor with a res of 1920x1200

700w ocz stealthXstream PSU

Now im not really into watercooling or crossfireing my 4870x2 (i will do if it will improve things and also find a way to cool them down..my rooms like an oven when i play fallout 3 lol )
Here are some games fps!

crysis 30-40fps on high settings
crysis 25-35FPS on very hi settings (both at 1600x1200)

Fallout 3 avrage around 45-60fps on max with 4AA

Dragons age i dont think its ever fallen below 45FPS on Hi settings (long time since ive played it.. as i perosnaly couldnt stand the game lol)

Oblivion 40-59fps on MAX 4AA (i hear thats normal though)

Now ive noticed this, When i lower AA or quality on fallout 3/crysis/oblivion) the fps dont change. does this mean there is something wrong with my processor? Am i getting bottle necked? or is it even the the mobo? All the benchmarks ive seen show the Phenom x4 955/965 are only a few fps behind i7 intel. and i've seen people saying they can run crysis on MAX with 60FPS easy with a 4870x2 and a phenom, are they lieing? Can you see any where i could upgrade and see a decent improvement? thanks :)

Sell me the mobo+cpu+ram and buy i7 920 and pair it with 5970 and pair of dominators GT @ 2133mhz. Then combine in with nice phase change cooler and OC CPU to 5ghz.

Done....

I don't fully get why people compare everything to a i7, isn't the i7 more for for converting / rendering etc.

I wud update to windows 7 or get a ssd, or If you love gaming save and get a dx 11 gfx card.

I kinda agree :/ the i7 kicks phenom's ass in EVER rendering/burning/ripping/photo editing/video editing benchmark ive seen.. but when it comes to gaming its only 10 sometimes 15 fps infront of phenom -_-
p.s would windows 7 improve gaming tho?

I got me the overclocked i5 @4ghz bundle!! chucked it all in a new storm scout case along with a 5850!! all hooked up to my lcd 37" tv , playing all games i chuck at with ease at 1920x1080 res!! not put AA or AF on cos i cannot notice the difference on my display!! Happy days

I think it so post to a bit, I ant really looked into it as I just keep up to date and love windows 7 lol, but windows 7 uses less resources then vista so its an idea.

I had a phenom II x4 b4 i went i7, as i do a lot of rendering, editing etc and i did notice a difference spesh when i oc'ed to 4.1ghz but gaming wise I couldn't tell the difference.

To improve gaming your want a better gfx card (meaning a new dx 11 one) or xfire, but then is it worth it? if games are playable now? or to cut load times of games you could grab a ssd.. I got the xbox 360 controller today and changed pc monitor over to my 32" hd samsung and played with it on crysis, so maybe think about buying gadgets to make game play better?

I ant ever seen a 4870x2 get 60fps in crysis, has anybody else?

You're right, but I couldn't be serious while responding to a post like that....

Really there is nothing that he should upgrade with his current setup unless he only cares about crysis then spend 500quid on GPU like 5970 and get a full waterloop or phase change @ oc the heck out of CPU and get dominators GT.

Then he'll have his lovely 60fps in crysis, for the cost of 1000gbp upgrade.

Cooling just means shoving the heat from the computer into the air in your room.

Watercooling in your case won't cool your room down, makes no difference to your room temperature at all.

Ill be honest with you.. i hate crysis lol i could careless if crysis run on my pc :P i only ever play on it when i get an upgrade! (same with sims 3.. still runs **** -_-) Just every one seems to use it as a benchmark! Im more into fallout 3/oblivion type games. Must admit do try my hand at RTS games now and then :P but yea ill leave the £1000GBP upgrade :D hehe thanks guys!

To the guy who said about gadgets.. beat ya too it lol Got a Zfang keypad, Nice-ish mouse, a 360 wireless controller, great monitor great speakers.. I think i may upgrade my soundcard -_- its a great card (x-fi Fa1tality gaming platinum) but EAX fails with vista lol thanks for your help guys :)

yes and no :D i agree the heat just pumps into the room nm what. But I have setup a exstractor fan that pumps the hot air coming out of back of the GPU, through an airtight duct tube and right out the window!
