Need first bike suggestions for my mate

Hi,

My mate has just passed his direct access so now is looking for a bike for himself. His budget is round the £800 area, looking at a sport tourer style bike. For example he has already looked at the Bandit and ER5. Any suggestions what would make a good first bike around the 500cc area.

hhmmm, would potentially hgave more succes at 600cc area - tho by looking at Bandits, i suspect you know that.

Not so clued up on older bikes, Bandits are cheap new, so you'll get a newer one for the money than other bikes.

ZZR600 was always meant to be decent, as was the FZ600. Hondas RF600 were relaxed a bit, but fun too, as was the CBR 600F (as opposed to the R if you want touring) - totally unsure on prices of these tho
