Firstly i have an expert mobo and have a set of Creative Inspire 5.1 P5800 Speakers.
I cant get the centre speaker working but the other 4 are fine. It deffinatly works because when i run the nvidia nvmixer it works. But it doesnt work in games, music, dvds ect. Any ideas?
Also, i am using onboard sound. If i buy a nice new Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi will the quality be better and will the speakers be louder?
Also, which sound card do you recommend?

, the quality should be better, but you may not notice much difference with those speakers. The centre not working is most likely a setting somewhere, mabye you have something set for 4.1 rather than 5.1, or simply the games don't support/use the centre channel. If you want a new soundcard, you might consider a second hand Audigy card (Audigy 4 most probably), however, if you plan to upgrade the speakers or you want a bit of future proof on your soundcard, you may as well go for the X-fi card.
