its a bit over budget but it would be worth it
No-one should be suggesting AMD to be honest. The i3 is the best bang for buck CPU at £100. I'll post a link to compare the i3 (£90ish)with an AMD FX 8150 (£180ish).

You can see the i3 does well whilst being much cheaper and it consumes less power, note the game benchmarks at the bottom of the list where it actually wins. The i3 also has quicksync over the pentium G CPU. AMD might do better for media encoding but if you use software that can support quicksync the AMD advantage is negated. Oh i nearly forgot, the i3 is a dual core but has hyperthreading which helps it perform as well as AMDs quadcores.
