Need power in my garage, need advice

Whoa, You could tell I was in a rush when I wrote that OP.

My garage is not next to the house, I live in a semi detached house, my neighbour to my right has his garage with mine attached to the other side.

=

He's allowed me to use his power supply if I pay for it. I know if he moves or I move I will have to stop what Im doing.

O'rly
I have contacted an electrician and he said the legalities of putting conduit over some ones property is a 'grey area' and he was not prepared to do the job. Please be constructive in the future. Thank you.
If anyones got any advice on how to get a Light in my garage please do tell.

Oh I will, I'm a qualified electrician! You are not qualified to install a CU and sign off the job! simple. Run an extension outside for when you need light, Make sure it is RCD protected. You can have your  back.

The cost of the work needed sinking a armoured cable and going through your neighbour's garden surely out weighs the need for a permanent light?

Where is your CU (fuseboard) in the house?

Some kind of rechargeable light is really your only other option.

Don't quote me on this, but I'm pretty sure all mains power supplies have to run back to the main RCD/CU (whatever it's called now) these days.

Either way, what you want to do doesn't exactly sound kosher.

Yep, the rear is south facing. Lovely views.
Might be the solution. I called an electrician who is a friend and he said, don't run a cable due to legal reasons.

I don't know much about solar power, other than the south facing thing, aslong as it's going to generate enough power, I'm assuming they work on a power storage system, I can't see the problem with this and it's free power. :)

I’ve been given a 12v battery and purchased a solar panel.
Works like a charm. Mounted the panel on the rear south facing wall in the neighbours rear garden. And a switch near the entrance of the garage.

Is that a 12v light?

How are you controlling the charge to the battery?

Its all 12v, The Battery is a 12v caravan type which was used on a Barge (canal boat).

Ive tested it for a few days and the the volt meter readout doesn't go above 13.5. - 14 which I have been told is when the battery breaks down - the limit for this type of battery (im not a electric type)

Although if I know I wont use it for several weeks then I would probably disconnect it.

He's probably connected the neighbors hamster wheel to an alternator, for a small charge of course! ;)

No only the cost of the panel and the lights etc. £100 all in.
Battery should give me 14 hours of power. Although I might get the necessary equipment to run a power drill etc in the future.
