Need some ideas on how to get my mums passport without her knowing

damn, I was going to suggest you DO go hunting around her bedroom. I would have thought it the most likely place, either under the matress, or in amongst a pile of clothes, or underneath a drawer. However, I now get your point!

Might be a stupid question, but won't she also need a visa if flying to US? Won't she have to apply for this in person, or at least sign for it?

I can't see what the problem is? Just tell her you've booked her a surprise holiday in the US and you need the passport number. Common sense and all that...

Say nothing on the internet is doing anything for you, and that you would like a good quality pic to fap over.
I already have pictures of your mother which I grease every evening.

Easy.

'Mum, is your passport around? I've noticed something a bit odd in mine - this number seems a bit weird - and I want to check it against another passport to see if its just mine that has it or not'.
She would see through that straight away!

Is your mum bang tidy?
Not as tidy as your's.

Are you going the immigration process with your missus?

If so make up a reason that its needed for one of the forms etc - pretty plausible
Bingo! Awesome idea dude :)

Tell her that you've booked her a surprise holiday and you need her passport to validate the flights.

Honesty, the best policy.

or that

and just don't tell her where.

She can find out when she gets to the check in desk on the day, really build the excitement !

just keep looking around the house while she is out.

best not to say anything about a passport of she might twig.

get the ocuk detectives round there any they will find it.

Say you have setup some life insurance for yourself and you need to provide next of kin info, they asked for copies of passports.

How about saying you are requesting a duplicate birth cert. for yourself from the registry office (pretty routine). Say something along the lines of: It speeds up the process by 4 weeks if you have her passport.

Ok, It's not completely believable but I can't imagine your own mother would doubt you and not just hand it over.

If she's fairly clued up that won't work.

Replacement Passport maybe, but not birth certificate.

No.

No.

UK citizens are exempt from Visa requirements for the US and can instead participate in the Visa Waiver program, for which you simply sign up online (And pay $14).
When did the charge come in Fox? I heard something about there being a charge coming soon. When I was there in October it was free for the esta/vwp but annoyingly my passport expires soon so will need to apply for a new esta before I go next month. Not that $14 is much but hey.

Also, what's with the unhealthy number of members in here suggesting incestual acts with the op's mother? You guys are very odd.
