Need the name of a movie

Looking for the name of an older movie...

Its about 2 guys who go looking for work. One of the guys is special needs or something and is really big built and strong.

They find work on a field ( im sure its loading hay etc )

one of the workmates has a very old dog ( which they eventually shoot )

the boss keeps vasaline in his glove to "Pleasure his wife"

Its set in old america.

Ive been basic but i hope some one knows the movie im on about
