Hi

Tomorrow i'll be needing £3000 cash out of one of my bank accounts.
How long will it take for the bank to sort the money out?
Could i walk into a branch of HSBC and wait for them to sort out the money or do i have to speak to the bank in advance?
I hope i havent left it too late :(

Phone your branch now and find out :p

If you take some ID like a passport and perhaps a utility bill/driving licence then they'll let you take out over the counter.

cant do it from the cash machine. go to your bank, write a cheque made payable to yourself in order to withdraw that much money and hand it to the bank teller. in return they'll give you the desired amout of money in whatever denomination you require.

do this before the bank closes. also, take with you some form of ID in case they ask for it i.e. debit/bank card etc.

Best to give them 24 hours notice, if they don't have the funds available for you they will direct you to a bigger branch that will.

they should be able to do the transaction easy i went in and got £1000 out no problems most banks should be able to handle £3000 not asif its £300,000 ... what bank and round about what time you going .. i might have to bump into you slip my hand into your pocket and slide your wallet out

its only £3,000 - they should have the funds available :p

I recently asked about moving £3,000 and was told I'm need to arrange 24hrs in advance to ensure the bank the cash available for me.

Just spoke to HSBC.

They said that on Saturdays the 'counter' isnt open so it isnt possible to withdraw my money. :(
Dont have time to go into town and go to the bank today :(

:(

You're as bad as me trying to buy drink in Ireland on good Friday!

You could always use your ATM card to get out as much as possible but even then a daily withdrawal limit is likely to be set.

Eh, debit / credit card / loan from parents / pay a deposit / IOU??? Not many people NEED £3000 the following day! Is the loanshark after you? Or did you suddenly just realise you haven't paid off your holiday and it's due tomorrow?

Some bank counters are open on a Saturday, just find one that is! When I bought my car, I went in and withdrew £1200 over the counter in the Natwest in the MerryHill Centre. Don't forget your passport/ID though!

Aye, youve left it a bit late to be taking out £3K. At the building society we probably wouldnt have been able to give that money out to you because of the legislation. Only a senior manager would be able to authorise it in a most extreme case.

People get really angry when you tell them they cant have their own money. Cant blame them, but it never helps when your the one taking the flak for someone elses rules.

I'm with first direct part of hsbc and you have to let them know so they can email the bank it might be different if you're a hsbc customer thou.

The bloke on the phone (indian call centre) said that on Saturday ALL HSBC counters are closed so will not give out money.
How stupid is that!!!

It wasnt a life or death situation to get hold of the 3K in cash by tomorrow. Just a damn inconvenience.

The money is for a car, found it last night on Autotrader and am going to view it tomorrow.
I wasnt planning on taking cash with me (was going to pay by cheque) but cash would be better because it means i dont have to wait till the following Saturday to pick up the car (if i decide to buy it).
