Nehrim - Oblivion Total Conversion (German Voices only)

Just like oblivion and just like fallout 3 i get frameskipping , and this is the ONLY game engine that ever does it to me. Two completely different systems but i still notice it!

The only way for me to fix it is to use Oblivion Stutter Remover and adjusting the ini file to max fps 60 , min 30

However because this is a standalone mod it needs to be installed differently

0. Run the game launcher and make sure all the data eps e.t.c files are selected and Run game then quit!

1. Download Oblivion Stutter Remover
http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=23208

2. Unpack the stutter remover , overwriting the data folder.. don't worry it doesn't overwrite any files. It will end up looking like this
C:\Program Files (x86)\SureAI\Nehrim\Data\obse\plugins

3. Open the stutter remover ini file and adjust the min/max fps to your liking , 60 for me is good.

4. Download the OBSE Loader , unpack the loader into C:\Program Files (x86)\SureAI\Nehrim

5. Run the OBSE loader which will launch the total conversion then setup your graphics options and have fun!.

Game is very very smooth now :D ( only applies to people who have any form of stuttering / frame skipping ). This is NOT related to Harddrive access and or overclocking. But the sync rate between the graphics card and the game engine. Which for some including me is nasty , never seen it with any other game engine which is so strange.

Does this mod use higher quality textures / landscapes than the original game?

I'm sure that oblvion texture packs wont work on it.

I get easilly fed up of Oblivion, so I want to try this out. Should I get any mods for it on top of that stutter remover?

Wow thank you so much for your input there.

If you are going to blunder into absolutely every Oblivion thread, no matter what the question, with one of your endless whinges about the levelling system, which most don't mind, then I am going to them mock you for it. Please try to understand the Oblivion levelling system is not broken, it's just not what you like. There's a very important difference.

So far this is better than oblivion and i'm still trying to get out the caves lol

No on the mod question :)

Nehrim is using some Texture Replacers from Quarl and other stuff, also everything else in Nehrim is built by hand

Going to be a weird experience playing a game in German. Every so often I say to myself that I should re-install Oblivion and have a serious stab at it. Maybe this mod will finally make me do that.

Been playing this for a few days and so far it's been great. They've put a lot of effort into making this and it feels like a new game. Here's a summery of what I've experienced so far:

Each area contains specifically leveled creatures/NPCs. So the area you start is Level 1-5 and another area further out may contain Level 11-14 for example. They don't change when you level up. If you wonder too far into a more dangerous area then you're screwed.

Day and night cycles are longer. More wildlife at night and is more vivid overall (foxes, hares, deers with rabbies, etc).

Items are stored in chests in major towns. They work like the chests in Resident Evil where you can retrieve the same items in different locations.

Weapons are pretty scarce. Only found one decent enchanted sword so far. You also can't always loot bodies for their armour/weapons.

Many more skills to aquire such as smelting, cooking, hunting, etc.

You can't fast track to areas you have already been to unless you use a teleport crystal at a pedestal.

As for storyline I haven't really been following it being that the dialog is all German and I can't be bothered to read all the captions. It seems that it's to do with a battle against the use of magic or something. In one town I was arrested for using a spell.

I played this when the german version came out but since my german isn't too hot I left it til this english translation. So decided to start again and about 7 hrs in. It's a really great mod, well a game of its own really. Very professional for a freebie! Best way to sum it up is like what was said on another forum somewhere....its like Oblivion and Gothic had a baby and its called Nehrim :D

A lot the stuff I hated about stock oblivion is fixed and not as buggy (for me anyway) as the Gothic series. With lots of ideas taken from Gothic...beautifully hand-crafted world within the constraints of the gamebryo engine. Great stuff. Will tide me over nicely til Two Worlds 2 and Arcania come out.

ok cool, i think i still have my disk around somewhere :p

Is it darker than oblivion?

ie less fluffy bunny everyone be happy and more backstabbing and harsh world like the old fallouts?

I miss gritty, every man for himself, and generally brutal (not meaning bloody combat, more moral ambiguity) RPGs :(
