Nehrim - Oblivion Total Conversion (German Voices only)

It's really good, I'm never going to get round to installing Pahncrd's Oblivion Overhaul now. I like the experience points combined with Oblivion's leveling system but can't find a lot of money. How do I make money in this game? Having to buy teleport stones at 140 a pop is getting annoying.

So far I'm really enjoying this.

I've escaped from Shadow Song Mine and managed to get the gate open a little way outside after the mages beyond it were despatched. The few small side quests that were required to be done before the gate opening were enjoyable, if a little simple, but that's almost certainly just a taster to get the player into the game world.

My only criticisms so far are:

Some of the shadows are impenatrably dark without the torch. This is good, but the shadows seem to sometimes randomly appear in what is a dimly lit room or part of cave.

Some of the sounds used are a little bit tinny or poorly recorded, but this doesn't really remove much from the game so far.

Very good stuff, and well worth a download IMO.

I'm gonna grab this. Oblivion is one of those games I've tried to get into several times, but always failed. By the sounds of it Nehrim is a stronger experience (very impressive for a fanmade mod). I don't mind it being german language, actually in some ways I see it as a good thing, as it means the makers have made what they wanted to make, rather than compromising to hit a larger audience, which says a lot for thier design ethic.

No it just means voice recording is expensive to do right and they probably don't know any English speaking people/facilities that will do it for a favour like the German one did :p

Well there could be an element of that too. I'd prefer to think it was a conscious design decision, and they chose to do it that way and invest more time and effort into the game :)
I'm well aware of how much voice recording can cost from my work with the X32I team (the composer/sound editor is a professional who came onboard because he knew the team lead)

I does still have lots of problems with crashing. The more the get into the game the worst it gets. Seems all the problems you'd get with Oblivion you'll have with this. I've been getting some serious FPS issues in specific areas making the game completely unplayable. Seems to be caused by the spell casting effects and certain NPC animations dropping FPS to like 1-5. Only happens in the areas full of the blue crystals.

Not sure if I'll bother finishing it. Going to install Win7 some and I'll try it again after that. If it's still bugged then sod it.

Site seems to have an English install version now.

Anyone know if thats English in subtitles only, or English voices now too?

Going to download it today anyway and give it a try, looks excellent.

It's had an English install version since this thread was started. Subtitles are in English - voices are in German.
