Gonna give this a whirl too. Original game was impressive but the levelling up system and story was so weak.

Its best to try and play it with a fresh install of Oblivion is my guessing. I get black textures everywhere and its just a massive pain in the arse to put everything back together for Oblivion itself. Seems because Qarls directly alters to bsa's it needs its screwed it up, ironic since Qarls doesn't even work...

Ewaf you could've just modded the levelling system...

Well once you do get it working its periodically the best RPG I've ever played!

Well worth the effort!

Although, I did love Oblivion but Nehrim is the same but completely different at the same time...the dungeons are absolutely fantastic (none of that copy and paste malarky of Oblivion). The items are awesome as well.

My only criticisms (40 hours in) are:

1) Sometimes crashes (although grabbing Oblivion Crash Prevention System helped)
2) People don't have much to say ie. no banter
3) Gold is kinda pointless by the end as none of the traders have any decent items generally

Frankly, it is still the best RPG I have played to date and although Skyrim looks amazing I can't help but think Bethesda won't have the attention to detail that SureAI have with Nehrim.

This mod is perfect, it really is. Literally feels like somebody merged Gothic and Oblivion, just lush!

I somewhat enjoyed Oblivion, though I have yet to play it modded. This could be a mod worth trying over the festive period.

It's still German but for me that just makes it so much more immersive, just imagine that it's the language of wherever Nehrim is set. Tell you what, it has better quests than Skyrim, you'll love the tutorial alone especially if you enjoyed Silent Hill and the Pyramid Head fights (well, more a desperate fight to escape). It's amazing so far, took me about an hour to get out of the tutorial cave and it ain't at all like normal TES tutorials, it literally throws you in the middle of a Cave Troll feeding frenzy and expects you to survive (granted it's fairly easy). You get chased by a Black Troll who's unkillable and will 2-3 shot you, the ways you have to deal with him, the fact it's so well done, like you drop a ton of boulders on him, crush him, and then 5 minutes later he smashes through a wall and carries on chasing you, REALLY good stuff.

As for crashes, not a single one yet.

Really stick with this guys. The game gets so much better later on.

All you need is the latest patch, and then install the game to your /Oblivion folder (not Data Files). Then go into Data Files from the Oblivion launcher, untick the Oblivion.esp files, untick Shiverisles and all official DLC and mods, make sure only the Nehrim .esp and .esm files are on. Then launch Oblivion normally.
