I doubt you will get it working because the 834 is an adsl modem router and Virgin is Cable, so you should have got at WGR614 which is the model for cable BB users

Hi,

You only state "Virgin Media broadband", but as your sig says 20Mbt I'm presuming you're talking about cable not ADSL. The router is an ADSL/2+ router and will not work on a cable connection.

Speak to OCUK, and cross your fingers ;) Sorry it wasn't better news.

I'm not a cable user but I get the impression that the RP614 you pointed out needs an additional cable modem for the router to have internet connection hence the message "N.B. Not suitable for use with USB modems".

Thought I would point that out.

If I am correct, you will want a router with a modem built in or unless you have a spare LAN modem to connect with the RP614.

You don't need (and can't buy) a router with a cable modem built in. VM provide a modem that does ethernet, and it's really the only one you can use.
