Netgear DG834G -> Netgear DG834GSPv3 WDS Repeater
Hello all,
I'm in need of some help trying to extend my home wireless network.
I have a Virgin UK broadband connection at my home. The router is in bedroom 1. The wireless signal is good for that room and the two rooms under that, however the other side of the house does not receive the wireless signal.
I am using a Netgear Router DG834G which has a custom firmware (DGTeam) that enables WDS on it.
I also have a spare Netgear DG834GSPv3 router with WDS already enabled.
Here are the steps I have done to try and extend my network coverage:
Do I need to set a WPA-PSK password on the spare router?
I tried putting the spare router downstairs but can't seem to connect to it.
Help is appreciated!

Here are the steps I have done to try and extend my network coverage:
- I set the spare router to use an alternative IP (instead of 192.168.0.1 it used 192.168.0.99)
- I have selected Wireless Repeater Enabled on both routers
- I have entered the MAC addresses of both routhers on the WDS settings page
- I am using WPA-PSK on the main router
- I have the DCHP enabled
- Both routers have the same SSID
Do I need to set a WPA-PSK password on the spare router?
I tried putting the spare router downstairs but can't seem to connect to it.
Help is appreciated!
