Netgear DG834G Wirelesss signal

I have the above router.

I notice that Netgear say 3 of their other routers have extended signal for wireless

Question: Shoudl the range of this router go throughout a normal house?

Having problems getting a signal from my wireless PCI card downstairs - it often disconnects - never considered it could be the router tho!

upnp off in router? also check that 802? i think its called in network adapters is off. this solved all my problems.

Have the same router which had the same problem so made a windsurfer parabolic dish to put on the aerial

What kind of tin foil did you use? normal kitchen stuff? and how do you glue it off?

it's thin foil card which i found in the house then just glued the tab's down at the back
and my signal upstairs went from poor to very good

btw are they sposed to go on the router or on the pci wireless card or both??

i've got a v1 and have it at front door and get 90% in the back bedroom, can even connect 20m up the back garden, totally standard Ariel also

I tried the windsurfer trick about a day ago and got a 12% signal gain.

can someone help me as i am not getting anything solid

how should i be position the windsurfer and the aerial downstairs.

the PCI wifi card is downstairs and hte rotuer is upstairs.

The router is ALMOST straight ontop of the wireless PCI card.

I would say the Router is 1 floor above and 2m to the right. the only seperating them physically is the floor.

so how would i position my things? should i try and get the router pointing downwards? and should i point the pci antenna up - or up to the left etc?

i guess the windsuer is limiting the directions the signal is going so it needs to be even more accurate
