Does anyone know if drivers are available for Netgear's PC cards under MacOS? I can't find any mention of such drivers on their site which surprises me to be honest as I'd have thought they'd support the Mac.
Ok I'll rephrase that, what's the deal generally with using third-party wireless adapters with Mac, either PC Card or USB ones?
From what I can gather none of the big companies like Netgear, D-Link or Linksys provide Mac drivers for their client adapters but some reports indicate that Apple's Airport software works with some of these devices anyway.
Is there any way of finding out exactly what Airport will work with or is it a total crap-shoot?
Basically I'm looking to replace the wireless network at a friend of a friend's place and was looking at going with something like the Netgear Rangemax as they've got serious coverage issues but the benefit will be limited without using Rangemax clients which, in the case of their two Mac laptops, may well not be possible
(PS. I know squat about Macs, in case you hadn't noticed )
Works like a charm! For anyone else looking into supporting the newer wireless client devices on a Mac, I can strongly recommend this driver. Hope this is of use to someone
