Netgear WGR614 wireless issues

So the other day, the wifi started going a bit funky, cutting off sporadically.

Today, I had trouble logging into the router, going to the routers IP simply timed out. Managed to access it via routerlogin.net and everything seemed fine.

Then the wifi crapped out completely. I have renamed the SSID and changed the channel number.

Neither my netbook running Linux, or my housemates laptop running Win7 can see the network. The wifi status LEd on the router is lit.

Anyone got any ideas? I cannot seem to do a hard reset, as there is no reset button!

All advice welcome.

EDIT - just did a small test. it seems my mate can connect to the unsecured wireless, but onoly if my netbook is hardwired into the router. Oddly, my netbook cannot connect to the unsecure wifi...

To do the hard reset you need to log in to the routers web interface, if you can get that to work I suggest upgrading it to the latest firmware to start fresh and see if that helps.

Bit of a noob moment - I found the reset button on the back. It is hidden behind a little grill with circlular holes so I didn't spot it at first.

Will do a hard reset and a firmware update. Failing that, I will try and see if I can install dd-wrt on another ADSL Netgear router we have lying around (the current one is a v9 and unsupported atm sadly. Hoping the other is a v8)
