i have a netgear wireless router WPN824 which had been working fairly decently since i bought it apporx 2 years ago.

lately we've been having problems that when more then one wirless laptop tries to connect it'll either after a while give up on all connections and then only one can connect after they refind it, or just the first person who had it will only be able to find it. it's odd though as sometimes it'll connect fine to both.

we only really use it from one angle as it's at the corner of the house, e.g. top right, and we can only be to the left and below it.

anyone any suggestions what's going on? is this a fixable problem? gets annoying for the other user as they have to sit there with no internet

the problem is still unfixed and has this weekend started again as more then one person is in the house trying to connect. I have completely lost it wirelessly, can't find it at all, and the other laptop is a bit of a hit and miss, last night nothing, this morning the laptop had it, now again not.

someone once mentioned something about changing the frequency as perhaps that's being messed with. anyone care to explain how this is done for my router and also what/if i need to do anything on my xp laptop, and the other vista laptop?

Changing the frequency is something you'd do on the router but it wouldn't help in this case. It would only be any use if there was another network interfering with yours, in which case you'd have an issue even with only one laptop.

You could try logging into the router and updating the firmware

Or download the firmware from the link below but make sure you get the correct version.

Make sure its got the latest firmware then reset the router.
