Network Share

Just reinstall windows 10 on my media pc.

Connected to wired network.
My other pc see the folders I shared but when I click on them it tells me I don't have the required permission.
I don't have and pc password, and the option is turned off in network settings
Ideas?

Have you set both the security permissions and the sharing permissions? If you've no password, I presume you're granting "everyone" full access?

Permissions, make sure there’s either a log in with access or everyone has full access. Don’t forget leaving it open and giving full access might be a security risk.

Remember that there are both file level permissions and share level permissions.

I just added a password to the media pc and then it worked. oh well.
BTW also I have been clicking around trying to find where I change the name of the computer so it comes up on my other pc under network name.

nope. now I cannot see it..love my lack of network knowledge

working again, I had the media server on a key lock, my baby liked touching keys. Fixed

Working all fine now. Thanks for the help
