Is it possible to establish a simple server based system using the following hardware.
1 Pentium 4 tower running Windows 7 Home Premium
1 Dell XPS running Windows 7 Home Premium
1 Macbook Pro running Snow Leopard
1 gigabit switch
2 Western Digital Towers
Want the Pentium 4 tower running as a server which has a wired connection to the XPS and Macbook pro providing both machines with access to the western digital storage units.
Also the server doesn't have access to the internet but the two laptops do via wifi.
We have it set up how we want but it isn't robust enough. We can't seem to specify the enthernet connection to be a home network but it always comes up as unidentified. So whilst it works it just doesn't seem to be lock tight yet.
Someone has said that we may need something like windows 7 professional but it seems like we're asking so little to require anything more than home premium so I dunno if that is the issue.
