new 24" 16:10 monitor

Unless you can get some 2nd hand 24" monitors which can do 1920x1200 or find some stores that still sell old some ones, you won't do any better for the money than that HP ZR24w, I don't think. You can get it a little cheaper if you shop around, but it'll still be just above £300. There's a good review of it here if you've not read it already.

Here's someone running 3x HP ZR24w on this forum (that thread is a worth a look too): http://sadfish.net/zr24w/

Also be aware of that monitor's scaling issues.

Samsung has some new 16:10 monitors coming out:

I would stay away from the HP's due to all the tinting issues as well as the poor contrast.
Hmm interesting, I much prefer 16:10 monitors and didn't think any company would still bring out any new ones at relatively low prices. From a quick Google, it appears you can already buy the 24" Samsung SM2443DW here in UK for about £225.

Acer also makes some 2048x1152 16:9 monitors, can't remember the model #, but that's what google is for.

Hey guys

I currently have 2 samsung 2443BWs which are 24" 1920x1200 monitors and now i want to make the leap to 3 for some eyefinity goodness BUT its so hard to come by a 16:10 24" screen that isnt expensive!

Im looking for something in the £300 mark

im almost tempted by this http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MO-005-HP

But it is a little over budget :/

any ideas guys?

Indeed, so many production lines are 1920x1080 (or some other 16:9 ratio) due to the massive production of TV panels. Getting monitors that are 1920x1200 is rarer than hens' teeth now outside of premium or photo-professional sector.

yeah that 2443DW looks like just the ticket BUT im also considering saving and forking for something of higher quality. my only gripe with that is i dont want one monitor to totally overshadow the other 2 i have atm, that will only cheese me off while gaming.

and right now my current monitors look fine to my untrained eye.

The 2443DW looks to be a rehash of the 2443BW that you already own except it has a DisplayPort, so it shouldn't look too out of place.

As dustofnations has mentioned, it's damn annoying how 1920x1200 is a premium selling point now, when 1 or 2 years back it was still standard and you could get them relatively cheaply.

Now the manufacturers have the audacity to make claims that 16:9 is "better" because you won't have black bars when viewing 16:9 sources - which is utter nonsense to me. I'd much rather have black bars which you can easily ignore than not have the extra 120 pixels for general use such as web browsing and more importantly in games. It's not like you're going to be watching 16:9 content more than general use, especially on a PC monitor.
