I am just upgrading from a 512Mb 4870 to a 5870 today (card just arrived).

How do I swap drivers?

Do I just install the 5870 and then install the new ATI drivers? or the other way round?

Thanks.

Personally I'd boot with the 4870 in, remove all the drivers and ATi CCC (plus any other Ati Software)

Then turn off.. remove 4870. Install 5870. Boot up.. Install latest ATi Software and drivers compatable with the 5870.

I usually just reformat and reinstall teh whole system when I upgrade to start anew.

If however you dont wish to do this then teh steps I would take are these.

- Add / Remove programs and remove the ati stuff.

- Run a driver cleaner program to clean off any ati stuff.

- Restart machine

- Run a reg cleaner to make sure no ati stuff left in reg

- restart with new video card in

- install new drivers.

That might be overkill but its the cleanest way other than a reinstall.

Done what the 1st reply said. All working fine. Tried vantage and got 15600 at 1900x1200 performance setting.

Clocked it up to 800 core 1250 mem. Works fine.

Off to play now.
