New 911 Turbo

No they can't, you need £25k or more for a nice one, and considering they came out 8 years ago this most certainly is not pennies.

The residuals are excellent, depreciation is very low. You can buy a used 996, run it for a year, and sell it for not less than you paid for.
Until the used 997s start flooding the market. I'd not be surprised to see 996 prices settling below 993 prices in the long term.

I take you're going for the Sport Chrono pack (and that the test car had this too)?

What's the total cost likely to be? How much is the M5 worth?

Yep, Sport Chrono Pack and probably Tiptronic. It's faster you see :D

Unsure what the M5 is worth. How much you offering?

NNNNNoooooooooooooo

It was going so well then you had to ruin it ;)

Turbo is stunning car in the flesh, very few of the pictures I have seen do it true justice. They look much better in the flesh as you said, but think again about the old slushy box and don't believe all that OPC rubbish about it being faster, some roads tests have proved otherwise. Bit to soft for me, but stunning car and top of the tree if you ask me for all round ability.

Enjoy.

There are a lot of 997's already available from the OPC network, just have a look on the Porsche UK site, and they will be the better examples more often than not. Porsche typically looks to make 7-10K on a pre-owned car so imagaine how much they paid the first owners! The early 996's in C2 and C4 form are quite good money now, but the GT3, GT3 RS and Turbo are still pretty strong, which I don't see changing greatly. GT2 took a bit of a bath, but they have at least stabalised now.

993 seems to be hot at the moment though...

Oh I'm quite aware of that, I meant in a year or two's time.

Interested to see that you say the GT3RS prices are doing alright, I was surprised how cheaply a friend picked one up recently.

They have come down quite a lot, but they have been pretty stable for the last 3 or 4 months, so seem to have hit the residual plateau.

Ah, OK. I don't follow the market, I was surprised when he told me what it'd cost him though. I imagined they were still changing hands for 80-odd.

The odd one or two may be up at that price in OPC's, but none will sell for that I would suggest. Most are in at around 65 - 75 based on history and where you buy them from.

£55k will see you a 20k miler 05 plate M5. An 06 plate with 5k on the clock will set you back around £60k.

The fundamental reason for the 911 not changing is because its hard to perfect perfection. They spent so long designing the 911 in the first place that they really don't need to do a lot to it.

I think even fundamentally, the floor pan has had little changed on it.

Cheers for that. :)

I have posted before that I am not a fan of Beemers with few exceptions. The M5 is one of them.
Excellent. I'll give you first refusal. Now about the price ...

Forget that I am hearing a company car, the M5 does 2MPG better than the Mustang so I'll use it for work. :D ;)

In that case, is OcUK looking for staff? Ill work just for the company car, not bothered about pay :p

The Tiptronic is only quicker because before the car is off the line it lets the engine build boost, whereas a manual car only builds boost once it's launched. Once you're moving, the manual is actually quicker, and I would imagine a damn sight smoother. Just something to think about...
