Help needed, need new AGP graphics card on a budget... £100 ono

Hiya. Need some advice please.

We have been lucky enough to aquire a 2nd PC for free. It is an AMD 2600+, 512Mb of RAM. Only problem is, onboard graphics, shared memory.

I currently have an 9800 Pro. Now, were on a budget as our little un is now at the age where we have to buy a bed and stuff. So....

I have roughly around £100 for a new graphics card. So we can play LAN games (Well, I can play LAN games... :D)...

Does anyone have any recommendations. I know the price is low, but hopefully something like the 9800 Pro would be fine. Better would be great.

Oh, and it really does have to be AGP, I cant afford to upgrade my Mobo. Might as well scrap it all in if I have to do that... :D

Sorry, just read a thread that answers my question... Im actin like a noob.

7600GS...

I'll just skulk off queitly now, if you all don't mind.

Unless somebody can tell me different, the 7600GS is PCIE only I'm afraid....

Staying strictly within your budget, and buying new from this site, the ATI 1600 Pro looks to be your best bet. There's nothing of note in the clearance or B-Grade sections on AGP at the moment either...

There were some nice 6600 and 6800GT's on there a while back, but they're showing as 1 to 3 days now, which could mean they won't be back?

Your best bet might be second hand from the Members Market or similar.

Yep 2nd hand is probably your best bet.

If you must have new then something like the Sapphire X1600 Pro 256MB DDR2 AVIVO TV-Out/DVI (AGP) - Retail (GX-116-SP) £91.59 Including VAT,
which is an improvement over the 9800pro.

Ai, I second the motion for X1600 Pro AGP.

Heck, my Wife's machine has a X1300 Pro in it and it plays FEAR just fine.

Admittedly at 800x600 in medium details, but it still plays!! WoW plays wonderfully at 1024x768.

I am selling a Geforce 6800GT AGP in the mm now, £100. :) Its the best card I have ever owned and thats for sure. :p

It plays FEAR and Oblivion etc no problems, very fast.

another vote, buy jimbo's 6800gt for the 100quid inc vat and free delivery. its the best your going to get at that price.

Thanks very much for helping my sale mate, I can now confirm its sold for £100 so Im delighted with that and Im sure the person who bought it is delighted too. :)

WOOOOOOOT!!! :p :D :p

yea a powercolour x1900xt for £235 inc vat and free deilvery. not bad cards these but they run hot suck up lots of power and make a lot of noise.

to me its pointless spending so much cash on such a card since dx10 is soon to come out and the x1900xt will then drop to the 150 quid price bracket.
