Just to say tho, I received an email this morning giving out 3D Mark 06 and Vantage scores of both GPUS and the GTX 275 does beat the ATI 4890 but only by about 100 points or so...as far as I am concerned, if the card can play a game really well, I couldnt care much about the scores they get during benchmarking. Altho, yes it does help and gives gamers an indication of what to expect, but I could sit here and say that my 4870 X2 is the best GPU in the world and then someone else could turn round and say that their GTX 295 is the best GPU in the world. So really it is all down to personal preference. Right? Isn't it? Anybody?

All that aside, I am more surprised as to how quick these cards have come out. I was under the impression they were not due for release til at least May or June. But the fact that both companies have released them pretty much at the same time clearly means they want to see who will win in the battle of the best GPU of 2009.

its down to stability i think
i chose the evga 295 over a x2 simply because when i had the 4870 512 in march last year i had constand problems with drivers. the 295 is expensive but it plays everything you throw at it with amazingly constant fps

After looking at the prices and scores, seems like ATI wins this round vs 275. Unless nvidia can cut £20-30 off the price.

Precisely my other point. Its all about the price of these things. Most will go for the ATI cards purely cos they are about £20-£30 cheaper than the nVidia counterparts. But even as u say the scores can also speak for themselves...but we will see over time how each card fairs.

Reviews I have seen so far seem to suggest that whatever ATI has done to the die (its not had a shrink its still 55nm) and has 3m more transistors, BUT it overclocks like hell. Apparantly 1ghz is not that hard to get...

Have to take your hat off to ATI, hardware wise they are rolling out some ultra competitive cards.
