Hi peeps :)

I'm about to place an order for my first bmw :) - the bmw 335 diesel coupé (in gunmetal grey with 19" alloys and red leather interior)

anyway, i have recently noted that the M-Sport version will be coming out "sometime soon" - now will anyone with past experience of bmws vouch for whether this version will be worth waiting for?

as far as i can tell, it has a more agressive outer look, stiffer suspension and bigger (standard) wheels, but that doesnt concern me becuse i picked 19"s anyway...

i'll point you towards pics of both:

the one i'm getting: Click

the m-sport (apparently): http://www.fast-autos.net/forum/showthread.php?p=43120

Now, basically, i'm stepping up from an Integra Type-R and am moving away from the agressive style of car due to concerns about business image, so if the external styling (which personally i dont think looks as nice as the more stealthy SE shell) and stiffer suspension (i already have ordered sports suspension on top of bmw's excellent stock suspension) are all to look forward to then i'll go ahead and order, i just dont want to be kicking myself if the m-sport turns out to be a real winner :)

opinions please :)

Generally, the Sport model has ALWAYS been worth having. I cannot speak for the E92 becuase it's not out yet, but in the E39 at least, Sport adds..

M-Technik Bodystyling, which always looks good
Sport steering wheel
Loads of little ///M badges on the sills and suchlike which look cool
Excellent Sports front seats
Lowered and stiffened Sports suspension
De-chroming
Anthricite Headlining

So, I'd say in that regard, Sport is definately worth going for. The Sports seats alone are absolutely excellent - have a look at a 335d SE and a 335d M Sport Saloon becuase I would say the differences between the two will be what you'd expect to see as differences between the Coupes.

hmm... ok, that was a good idea to comare with the saloon...

it would SEEM that yes you get nice things on the M, but i already have sports suspension which is quite stiff enough, already have really nice sports seats which are optional on the other coupes, the styling i like as it is, i already get a sports steering wheel...

its interesting but maybe not a very good comparison, i will speak to the guys at bmw and find what i will be missing out on :)

Looking at that link, it looks well worth waiting for, how can the coupe look so nice and the saloon so crap, i bet if you stuck the rear lights off the coupe onto the saloon then the saloon could look slightly better proportioned.

I'd also go for the sport, on top of what Fox has already listed the sport should depreciate less (well at least it seems to on the e46, e39, e90 models).b

Im not really a fan of the E90 in SE form.....but when i see a sport you can tell a mile off its a sport, the front vents are huge when you see it on the road. So i would personalyl go for the sport, will hold its value better aswell i think.

Aint you lucky...335ci

hehe thanks for all the comments :)

all your opinions seemed to be mainly based on the exterior looks rather than additional features etc... i do (i really do) see what you mean i love a nice agressive look to a car but i just happen to think it is not necessary here, i'm going for a professional executive car (that just happens to do 0-60 in 5.9 despite being a diesel :D:D) - and the really appealing goodies such as suspension, steering wheel, alloys etc are already on the car (or in the case of the alloys, a better version is on my car - the 19s ive stuck on are some of the nicest ive ever seen!!)

anyway, go on the bwm website and configure the 335d coupe to be in sparkling graphite with the red interior, the 19s and the satnav and all the piccies will basically be my car... check it out its none too shabby i must say let me know what you think :)

The way to look at it is like this...

With BMW, you know you're getting your moneys worth, especially where M are concerned.

Is it worth the wait, yes - definately, but if you're going to pay a little bit more I would have thought and the stock BMW model is hardly a shabby car.

It's whatever you want basically!

I would be very concerned about 19's as, along with the Runflats, these will destroy the ride quality.
thanks for the heads up, i will look into it before i plunge ;) but personally i wouldn't have thought beema would offer an option that showed a product in a bad light... maybe they tweak a few things to make it better than if it was done as a halfords aftermarket jobby?

There have been MANY complaints about the ride quality on E60 Sports with 19's and the 3 is a smaller car.

I really think you should make sure you test drive a Coupe with 19's over a range of roads BEFORE you order :)

Never a truer word spoken. Ride quality is one of those things that's very very subjective. The ride in mine (18s and 27mm lower than standard) is pretty solid but tbh I don't mind it at all. Others, OTOH, have found it nearly unbearable. I made a point of test driving three cars with the same suspension and tyres before ordering to make sure though.
