Hi, well hopefully if I get what I am supposed to be getting for my birthday I will have £557 to spend on upgrading my computer, and if I get to do this job it will bring the cost up to 707.

Anyway I would like to know what possible setup I could get for 557 and another one for 707, maybe with the 707 an 8800GTX and C2D or 8800GTS and a quad core?.

So the most probable cost I will have to spend is £557.

I need CPU, motherboard, ram and GPU, what could I get for £557 and £707?

Try these on for size:

Very exact figures you have there. If the £557 is an absolute then you could drop the CPU to an E6320 and it should be about on budget. :)

Will an E6320 overclock good aswell?

Thanks aswell guys, some nice stuff there :)

Does anyone know about the onboard sound on these motherboards? Is it good quality as I wont have an X-Fi anymore.

Also need one for £607 since all I might be getting for my bday is £100, so possibly shave the cost off of the ram and cpu.

Im a big fan of the Allendale, people are getting great results from em, up to 3.8ghz!, + it means with the saving you can have another 2gb and still be at the bottom end of your budget ;)

Ok, I thought up 2 more selections, which one do you think I should go for?

HD2900XT:

8800GTX:

£736 with postage and all that for 8800.

I would go for the GTX spec if you have the money, but there isnt a massive performance increase over the 2900s, and the Geforce vista drivers leave a lot to be desired.

All depends on what res you'll be playing i suppose.
