New Build, Dilemma.. 790i?

Hello
Im going to upgrade my rig, and needed some help on motherboards.

Im going with..

Intel QX9650/9770
8GB DDR3 RAM ( I will buy correct ram to suit the motherboard )
1X ATI 4870X2
I will be using my own sound card

Would you guys go with the XFX Nforce 790i?

Please advise

I will not be overclocking

Its pointless using a 790 board and buying an ATI card, The 790 is designed for Nvidia cards and SLI set ups.

Choose an X48 mobo.

This is the board for you, its DDR3, X48 (great for ATI cards), quad core mobo and a great overclocker.

Looks nice, whats that sound card? I need to use my own as Im looking to get the bay that slots into the 5" panel, I use my headphones a lot so its easier that way

its just an extra soundcard, from what ive read its like a xfi extreme gamer card, you dont have to have it on though, its completely optional.

DDR3 is a waste of money unless you're buying i7 and have to have it.

Just get an X48 DDR2 board - there are quite a few around £160 which are decent.

Don't go with the XFX 790i, i've just had a mare of a time with that piece of rubbish. Avoid it.

Ultimately i went for a foxconn Blackops X48 and a 4870X2 and i'm over the moon with the performance
