New Build (i5 760 oc'd @ 4ghz)

Turbo boost disbaled and speedstep enabled and still the multiplier keeps going between 9x and 21x.

I am going to try turning speedstep off and see what happens. Though it would seem strange if this was the issue as why would it drop the multiplier when under full load?

A bit of an update.

Well it's been a fun few weeks. No end of issues with BSODs and software not installing issues. After some effort to get it working the machine decided to BSOD every 5 mins on Xmas eve. As I was ill over Xmas I decided to leave it until today to have a crack at finding out if it was hardware or software based problems.

First thing I tried was to reinstall windows as I had read, on these very forums, that whilst stress testing you can cause issues with your OS install due to some corruption. No idea if that's true but seemed like a good place to start.

Well that was fun (and I use the word fun in a not fun at all sense). Nothing but problems trying to get windows to a fresh install on my SSD. Once I finally got it installed I had issues installing software, once again, and then a BSOD.

********, I'll pull the SSD out and see what happens when I install on my 1TB Samsung. What a difference a HDD can make. Smooth install of windows and all other software. Been running all day and no BSOD or anything. I did drop the overclock back to stock whilst I get it sorted so tomorrow I shall overclock to 4ghz again.

I am tempted to try and install windows onto the SSD once more and see what happens but I have it in my mind now that it's faulty. I'll see how I feel tomorrow. It's just nice to have the grand I spent working.

****ing computers.

Another update.

Still having issues with blue screens so decided to try the memory sticks. Tried each one individually in slot 1 & 3 with no crashes. Hmmmm. The. Put both in and no crashes. Ran fine all day. Next morning I booted up and once again the blue screens started. It took all my self control not to punch the **** out of my new paperweight. I did the memory thing again and no more crashes. WTF is going on?

Got hold of some different DDR3 memory today and put that in. No crashes.

The most perplexing thing, I put 4 gb in as my other memory is, but when I started running Heaven benchmark played music. I've never had the sound working on it before. Perplexing.

The big test will be tomorrow morning when I boot up, assuming no issues during today, as it has always blue screened on first morning boot up.

Please have been the bloody memory. Please.

Well for the first time in as long as I can remember, damn alzheimer's, no blue screen on morning boot up. Putting it through it's paces again but without wanting to jinx this, it might appear to have been the memory. I might stick the ssd in later and install windows on that again (I removed it as I was wondering if that was faulty).

Would be so nice if my problems were resolved. I didn't get to use my new PC over my 2 week Xmas holiday (thank god I never wiped my old PC and sold it as I was going to).
