New Build - not booting DRAM LED Lit

Oof, I didn't seen the pic with the socket.

Try Tetras's link, otherwise if it's dead then personally I'd try and bend them back very, very carefully. Or flog it on eBay to claw back a bit of cash, if it's new someone is likely to want to try and get it running.
I’ll get the modelling magnifiers out and see how bad it is before I do anything else.

Well I bought a new Mobo (ASrocks Z890P-RS) from elsewhere and rebuilt the PC last night. Took extra care installing the CPU and Didn’t tighten the CPU air cooler all the way down like previously.

Still having same issues. I tried booting with 4 sticks, 2 sticks and 1 stick last night before giving up.

As previous, have you updated the bios? Hopefully the board has the function for a CPU-less bios flash.
These cpus are very new so its unlikely that the monbo would have shipped with a compatible bios.
Once you've done that, if its still not working then it's time for a cpu rma.

Run Memtest 86 in Bios. Via USB. Test the RAM.

If no issues with RAM, perhaps RMA CPU. Maybe the old motherboard caused the CPU to be damaged.

Oh, and as above. Update Bios to latest proper version. I did it on mine. And managed to boot the computer. With bios flashback.

However, my new 270k CPU, B860 motherboard, RAM DDR 6000 MHz still had issue so it is now RMA'd. After testing over one day.

Yes, first thing I did with this build.

Thanks all again for your advice.
I took it to a local PC shop today to get them to see if I had maybe missed anything in the build.

They advised it’s the RAM.

I had raised an RMA for the RAM when I spoke with OCUK the other day as I had been contemplating getting 2 x 32GB sticks instead of the 4 x 16GB I had bought. I’ll update my support ticket.

Now to see what RAM to get instead. Any recommendations?

Are you still planning a 270K build or something else now?

Hi, I am in limbo awaiting the outcome of my RMA on CPU, RAM and motherboard. If I get no joy, I may ask if I can swap to 9700X and AM5. But I am not sure they will agree to that. Plus RAM is mega expensive right now.

man it sounds like an extremely frustrating experience.
did that PC shop not try any ddr5 dimms lying around to confirm that diagnosis?
if they didn't plug in any of their ddr5 sticks then hopefully that "advice" was free, because if you paid for that "service" i'd be ****** :(

these two sets of 64gb ram appears to be the cheapest at ocuk currently

£30 extra for the RGB version
if you want tighter timings it's an extra £100 for CL36 vs CL40 i don't think it's worth it

I’m not 100% certain, but they did say when they called to advise that the RAM was the issue that they could install Windows 11 onto it for me, however I have my own bootable USB and a digital license so turned that down. I’m assuming they tried it with their own RAM to see if it would boot.

Thanks, I will consider that. I think I will wait till the RMA goes through before getting it, just to confirm it is the RAM that was the issue.

ah fair enough if they called to ask you about installing win 11 means they got it to POST at least

To put this saga to bed,

The Klevv Fit RAM was RMA’d to OCUK. It transpires that it was not on the QVL list for either MoBo I bought, suggesting it might not be compatible with Z890 boards.

I ended up getting Corsair RGB DDR5 48GB 7200C36 that was on the ASRock QVL list.

Computer booted near instantly using the Windows 10 install on my existing NVME drive.

Initial impressions are that everything is lightning quick. Lightroom Classic thumbnails and images load near instantly.

Now to go and install Windows 11.

I will never know whether the original Mobo install would have been okay with compatible RAM, or whether the bent pins came about as a result of the re-builds done during troubleshooting.

Thanks to everyone who offered advice, it was much appreciated.

My 270k, motherboard and RAM, are with the seller, awaiting further analysis. I have said to them I think the motherboard is faulty.

When it went back they almost alleged I bent the pins! I have photo evidence to prove that was not the case. They bent the pins on opening the board, or it happened in transit due to rough handling (the cover was taped on by me for CPU, photo evidence).

Anyway, I assume they are testing the "fixed" motherboard, as they repaired the pins. I have said it failed to boot and crashed, Bios kept reporting that firmware does not match the latest Bios (I was forced to update the B860 board to make it boot), and in Windows 11 the B860 ROG Strix F motherboard kept showing hardware that would not apply drivers to it and one reported it was not functioning correctly in Device Manager.

I almost wish I had gotten the AMD 9700X CPU and a B850 motherboard instead. Less hassle.
