new build pc wont post - any ideas ?

finally got my parts needed for my media centre this week and gave it to an engineer to build it for me on friday afternoon...

todl me 1 hour to do it ( kind chap ) 3 hours later i go into the shop after not hearing from him.... he cant get the display to come up on monitor .. through vga or dvi when pc is turned on .... said he look at it today.......so phoned again very later in teh day and hes said still cant get no joy... so will take a look one last time tmoz.

the question is ... if he cant fix it or find whats at fault what i'm i sending back ? ... all parts bought from ocuk ?

Hmmm, ask him what test he done to try and figure out the problem.

Could be a few things mate

well if he tests everything he knows how to and still finds nothing whats my options ? this is a bit hyperthetical as it hasnt happened yet .. btu i really dont fancy sending all teh parts back just for testing .. good bet is the mobo .. fansd turn and case lights up and everything .. just no pic on monitor ..doesnt get to post

In that case, i would tend to look at either the motherboard of graphics card mate.

Has he no spares to test with.?

the mobo has onboard graphics .. hes put a card in the pci-e slot to test .. still no picture .. ive not had much tiem to talk to him about it , but the mobo sounds knackered to me if tho its powerign up

Sounds like the motherboard too me then.
