Just put my new I2500k machine together and having some real problems

Managed to install windows 7 on the ssd. Then I did a restart and nothing!

Press the power button and the fans start to spin for a split second and then stop before spinning again for a split second. This continues on and on

I've reseated everything apart from the CPU and am now at a loss for what might be wrong. Clear CMOS did nothing either:(

Does anyone have any advice?

I2500k
Crucial 64gb m4
Kinston hyper x 8gb
ASIs p8z68-v lx

I was using the onboard graphics and it was all fine to begin with. I can't even reach the bios now

I've now reseated CPU and checked there were no shorts beneath the motherboard and it is still no better.

i have a corsair hx 520 which should be more than adequate to power this setup. I have another spare psu but I can't use that as it doesn't have an 8 pin connector:/

Just tried what you suggested with the ram with both sticks on their own and it made no difference:(

How will I be able to figure out what part is at fault?

Does anyone else have any ideas? I've tried all the ram in differing slots, my spare psu gave the same symptoms. Removed the battery for three hours and still no different.

I've reassembled my old machine and it works fine with the psu and graphics card

Seems odd that it was working one minute and now nothing. Is it likely to be the motherboard as I thought it should post even without memory and CPU

Had another look at this pile of junk this morning and I still can't get it to work

I reassembled all components and reseated the CPU & memory. Still get the same symptoms. I have just been trying the memok button but that is making no difference, the light just blinks whilst the fan intermittently spins

Is it likely to be the motherboard or ram at fault? I can't see the CPU being borked (at least I hope not)

Sadly the board has no power on button and I don't have a spare. I might be able to make the leads from the case reach outside to try it that way

Just tried it out side the case and still no change.

You mention that it was a faulty bios chip, did you rma the whole board?

I might venture out today and buy a cheap stick of ram to try that

I had this problem last night when I changed from 4GB Corsair to the 8GB hyper x Kingston ram -I solved it by putting the old sticks back in and then upping the dram voltage in the bios.

Took me a while to get the system to boot with the new kit & then another hour or so for the bios to recognise both sticks.

Do you or do you know anyone that has some other sticks of ram you could try just to get into the bios?

Also, do you have another hard drive installed as well as the one your OS is installed on? If so, try disconnecting it...this caused me some rebooting issues as well last night when installing Win7 on a formatted disk that had previously had XP on.

It won't post without any drives attached! Tried it with and without:)

I'm still not having any joy with this setup.

Just tried to get it going once more and no luck.

I'm not getting any beep codes and the memory light is not illuminated. Still will not post but I'm beginning to doubt that the memory is at fault as it's gotta be unlikely that both sticks wont work, plus the red memory light isnt on (which it should be if there is a problem).

I've tried two psu 's with the same result.

Is it more likely to be the motherboard? How often do CPU's go wrong? Everything was at stock, I hadn't tweaked a thing!
