I actually ordered an A5 brochure. It arrived and I just remembered I've not even opened it. I think it failed at the first hurdle

The A5's rubbish though. The A7 is a noticable step up from the A6 though. It's on par with the A8 I would have thought.

It's not very fast (180K) and it's rubbish on fuel for a slow car but it's nice to drive, the ride is good and it's good looking. It's a C class hatch, nothing more, nothing less.

I think they look good but would have to have the V6

I think this look better than the current E class coupe

The CLC is a bit rubbish if I'm honest, so hopefully they will do somehting with a nice engine in.

I saw in Car last week that Merc are looking to add something silly like 8 new models along with the stuff they will be replacing.

Including:

C Class Coupe - To rival the 3 series coupe but doesn't the E class coupe do this already, or at least one of their cars?

CLS Estate - Right.... so isn't that a car that was the size of a 5/7 series, that looks like a coupe but still 4 doors and now in estate....

A Class 4x4 and Coupe - Really? I thought the CLC was suppose to be the 3 door 1 series rival so where does the A Class Coupe fit in?

CLT Shooting Break - Whatever that is....

Plus others.

Really confused now.

Think of it as just a C63 AMG. But in Coupe Form. The E-Class coupe doesn't really have anything it rivals unless Audi made A6/Coupe. :s

C Class Coupe is gonna have normal engines in it as well, doesn't the E Class Coupe price up right against an e92?

Isn't the CLS based on the E or S class though, something just a bit smaller than an S Class, in a coupe shape, with an estate - sounds crazy.

A Class 4x4 and Coupe - No mention of them being M or RS rivals, apparently just standard engines like 1.6 petrols and whatever derv you fancy.

It is the same price and size and has a similar engine range (Bar the E500) to the 3 Series Coupe. Infact in some respects its cheaper.

Then all I can ask myself is why make a C-Coupe. It wouldn't look to me, to rival a 1-Series coupe.

The new CLS is lovely, it's a serious contender to replace the E60.
Either that, an A7 or an F10. There are so many new 5s around already, and the colours are all so dull

Manufacturers are looking more and more at 'whitespace' vehicles, to offer something slightly different. I.e. a good few years ago, if you wanted a CLS, and tried looking at something similar.... then there wasnt anything, so its likely potential CLS buyers can only then opt for the CLS. But now there is. I'd hazard a guess that the C-coupe would come in by definition between the 1 and 3 series coupe if you want to commit to giving it a rival.

It wasn't anything special when it came out, and it certainly isn't now, 10 years later.
