new car sub 2k

The Xsara is usually a lot cheaper to insure as the GTi6 seems to have a bit of a reputation with insurance companies, I found a big drop when comparing the two.

If it can be insured and purchased cheap, then that's a good shout. I just got silly quotes on a GTi6 that's all.

Yeh you get 35mpg when driving like a grandad, then that defeats the whole point of getting a hot hatch. Silly suggestion.

So if you own a 'quick' car you must drive it like your hair is on fire at absoultely all times or else it defeats the whole point of owning one?. Sillier comment.

Well not really, no. That said, the 306 is known to be pretty thirsty for what it is, even when driving normally. Also, we all know that if you have a car capable of being driven hard then chances are you will do so!

Seems a bit of an odd suggestion for someone who is looking for a cheap to run motor.

Some people do have an amount of self control you know. I can easily do 55-60 along the Edinburgh bypass, still pass some cars and have a pleasurable journey, knowing I'm saving some fuel. The sometimes on the return journey, depending on how annoying my Ex-Wife has been I might be doing 70-75.

i wouldn't mind a quick car but it's the insurance costs that worry me...
been looking at a focus but it was a 1.4 (was the closest to me!) and a golf tdi but the insurance for that isn't too clever!

might just buy a wreck of a corsa again to run into the ground, or to let someone run into me!!
