New Car Thread

Bad idea to put your wipers on.

I watched a neighbour do it in the heavy snow last near and shear the shaft in their wiper motor. That much snow is heavy, especially when it ices to your car!

Stick the heated windscreen on for a minute, then hit the wiper, HAZAA!

Ok so the weather is better now and i will post some proper pics on Thursday when it is my day off!:D

i just want to check something with any owners of one. Am i correct in thinking that, at stock, the boost pressure will only go to about halfway on the gauge?

Under about 3000rpm it floats around a quarter but then if you nail the throttle the boost gauge will go up to half way (about 0.7 bar).

From what i read this is normal operation and the needle will only go near the red line on the gauge if you have it re-mapped?

Yes, standard boost is only something like 0.6 bar.

Thanks :), i thought so.

Still havent been able to take it on a good drive yet :(, just don't want to risk it in these conditions. Don't think i have even taken it above 4000rpm yet! Drove to work and back like a granny in it today..

Had my ST about a month now (not got round to doing the inevitable new car thread yet), all I will say is definatly go down the Dreamscience route :) I certainly dont regret it!!

I've got Code:Red, which is better :p

Just spent a grand the other day on my ST, so need to wait for stuff to be delivered, and find a suitable time to get it all fitted.

Did you still get around 25mpg?

Best I did was 33 IIRC on the way to Ford Fair a couple of months back, but moderate thrashing it sits around 20.x, and on the boderline of driving like a girl it sits at 22-23.

Yup, gone down to about 24 ish today and still driving like a granny.

I saw 32 on my way home after picking it up (motorway drive),lol.

Was fully expecting this sort of mpg ofcourse though :)

Reset the computer when you're cruising on the motorway and you see 99.9 for a brief second, then it starts come back down to reality :( lol

haha. I may reset the computer actually as it is still using the average from the previous owner (or from whenever it was last reset).

Loving it so far though, coming from a 140 BHP Celica it's a whole different ball game! The difference in sheer torque is fantastic.

If you pull the keep alive memory fuse as well for say 15 minutes, then replace it, the car forgets how it has been driven. So say so if you constantly drive it in nose to tail traffic jams, the car will learn that style, but if you pull the fuse, go for a midnight blast, it behaves a tad differently :)
