Recently started a new job with a car allowance, so thinking its time to change the motor, currently an Audi A3 1.8T Quattro. Looking to spend £10-15k and wanting something with an increase in power

So looking for some ideas, have been mulling over an s2000, but i just dont think its practical enough

How practical do you need the car to be?

They are no good for taking your mates to the pub :p

S2000 and 350z are both very good, perhaps RX8 as well but if something with 4 doors and boot is preferred look at STI imprezas

Carry odd tools and bits of kit in, so could really do with a boot. And will have to do the odd long distance drive in it (to wales, joy oh joy)

Boot is ok on them, take the spare wheel out and there loads of room, Clothes can be stuck in bin bags and put behind the seats in the roof well if you are struggling for space.

Before i get all silly and splash the cash, i've just been reading the documentation on my job

new spec - must have four adult seats :)

BMW 530 or 330?

Whilst I obviously agree that these are amazing cars I think people on here have a tendancy to spurt out recommendations with no real idea what the benefits of disadavantages are simply becuase they've heard others say they same thing.

Can we please stop recommending cars we don't have a personal opinion at least half a bit of knowledge on? Sometimes people actually buy cars based on what people said - very daft - so we don't want to go getting it wrong.

Whilst what you say is true Fox, often the original posters are pretty vague about what they want, specifying a budget and not much else! If someone says spec me a new car 10-15k and then just buys what any old person tells them to then they need their head examining and it's their own fault.

I am basically looking for ideas.......... i'm definately not gonna go straight out and buy a 330 now someone has mentioned it, i might go and give one a test drive though

I'd try the 5 also.

personally, I prefer the e39 over the e46, but i actually own a e38 which I prefer to both!

I speak from the experience of an e39 528i (great car) e46 318i (nice car but no tyre shredder) and my e38 728i.

The reason I went for the 7 is simply due to its the only car I've driven that still feels solid & substantial out on the road, after my weeks driving about in a 44 ton articulated truck!!!

Whatever you try, make sure you try more than one example, when looking for my '7, I could'nt believe how differently the various models I tried, drove.
