New car time maybe

hmm it appears that that one had sold.

Now test driving this (second one down obviously) tomorrow, weather dependant.

While its not a 3.0 it is much lower mileage and looks very tidy. Possibly needs some nicer alloys.

Yes but this is a few grand off the cost of most z4's with the 3.0, hence the consideration.

Why do you think it looks naff? is it the wheels, as these can be replaced for circa £500 or just the fact that it isn't the 3l?

I understand that there is barely a mpg gain and little reason to get the 2.5, but I'm used to a 96 mk1 mx5 so would be wow'd by the power of a horse and cart at the moment. (Don't get me wrong, I love the car for what it is, I just require something more comfortable and modern.)

How much are the 108s worth? £1200?

My research document looks horrendous without the formatting, so I'll email it across.

Ok so after much deliberation I have decided to find the "right car" and take my sweet time over it.

The car I test drove wasn't terrible, but would have meant me sourcing new alloys, finding a solution to getting better quality sound (whilst trying to keep oem looks) and always wishing I would have waited for a 3l.

Are there any other site I should be checking apart from;

PH
z4 forum
autotrader
ebay
fish4cars ?

And a big thanks to Rob for the document he forwarded me, this along with the buyers guide on the z4 forums tommy pointed me to should cover everything ensuring I find a good quality car.

Forgot to update this thread, I have put a deposit down on a 3.0 SE in titanium silver, 45k miles with the following options.

CD changer
Composite Star Spoke 108 8/8/1/2 x 18
Elec Fold Exterior Mirrors
Ext. mirrors - folding. auto dimming
Extended storage
Loudspeaker system - BMW Business
Metallic paint
Park Distance Control (PDC). rear
Seat Heating
Wind deflector
Xenon headlights

Hopefully all being well I should pick her up this weekend. Its a BMW AUC so I also have a years warranty with the car should any of the regular items go wrong.

It has pretty much everything I wanted apart from the carver stereo, but I will have to live without.

Pics will come when I get it.

Sounds nice, good luck with it. That new car buzz is awesome isn't it?:D

Out of interest what wheels it got? Are the one's on the silver one from the Z4 forum the standard one's? they don't suit the car at all.

My next door neighbour had the wierd green/blue or whatever color it was lol, 3.0i, and it had the nicer alloys, the one's with the strange design, hard to explain. He got a brand new white Z4 now, the top spec one.

Is it a hardtop?

£9795 Probably a little more than I could have If I would have found a nice one up for private sale and if I had a bit more time to look.

But they are giving me a fair price for my car considering its age and condition and the car is BMW approved with the warranty so theres a little piece of mind for the first year.

And fox it would seem prices have stayed very still for zed's since your parents getting one, well they havent depreciated as much as most cars anyway.
