Hi all

Been on the look out for a car recently...went to a dealer today and drive a 56 reg Ford Focus 1.6 jobby, not too bad :) Just wondering what other cars are about.

Currently I have a 1.2 51 reg Clio, which is fine, but due to me being 6ft its quite harsh on my legs and the amount of room left etc :p...So I'm on the lookout.

Basically after something that is more roomy, a little quicker possibly, and won't cost me an arm and a leg esp insurance.

Now then, I like focus', wouldn't mind an ST but that'll cost too much really...I also like Leons (Depending on age), Audi A3's (Bit pricey sometimes though)...I'm a fan of Hyundai Coupe's, but I have a fear that I may bonk my head on the roof :p

Any input is welcome :)

you are just 6ft.. not 6.7 or something i dont get why you worried so much about the size??

Regarding what?

Currently in my Clio the drivers seat has to be pretty much all the way back...That and there is no steering wheel reach adjustment so its a bit harsh sometimes.

Regarding the Coupe, I sat in one the other day and my head was scraping the roof, so yes, height is an issue in some cases :)

No point buying a car if i'm going to be uncomfortable

I'm the same, over 6ft most of which is legs. However I found the mk1 focus acceptable, although not perfect.

So from that perspective you should be alright.

Welcome to OcUK. I see you want a normal everyday hatchback around 1.6 litres in capacity.

Have you therefore considered a 2000 Audi S4 Biturbo? You will also find 2001 Mercedes S500's in your price range. Alternatively, if you can 'find' another £4k you can buy a Golf GTI Turbo!

Welcome? Been here for years ;) Just don't venture in here much

Cheers for the feedback, sadly yes a normal hatchback...Only suggested that as thats all I know sadly.

I'll look up the cars and prices though...My main problem is that I want a more room car yet not the car itself to be massive...Which yes, is highly unlikely :)

you wont have this problem if you get anything bigger than a clio.

The clio is a little french rotbox designed to take women to and from the shops. Its not designed for comfort.

Obviously they do the renaultsport versions etc.. which are a different matter. But the bread and butter bottom of the range models are rotboxes.

You wouldnt have this problem in something from the class above - like say the focus.

Thanks for the input :)

I wouldn't call it a rotbox though ;) Nout wrong with the thing other than me having long legs.

As I said, I did a test drive in a Focus earlier and it was quite nice...Just not sure whether or not it'll be a worthy upgrade.

I almost forgot how forward car sales men can be as well...He was practically asking for me to hand over my card that instant and telling me when it can be ready by

Clio to Focus is a definite big step...comfort is probably.. 20 times better whether it be the Mk 1.5 or Mk 2 focus! I had a W reg clio and I didn't find it particularly comfortable even tho i'm about 5ft 9! For 6k if u really wanted an ST, could go for the ST170 which would be cheaper n still fast

Rubbish idea. Group 15 insurance plus it's not a very quick car.
