Thinking about holding off until december for my new motor. saving a bit more. I really want an elise and the 99/00 models are around 10k so I could afford. They wouldent loose money and they are great. I have been addicted since I drove one last year. Im 21 in december with 4 years NCB (hopefully) any chance? or should I stop kidding myslef and get something new now thats a bit better on insurance.

I'd try some insurance quotes online - stick you DOB as a year earlier, stick in 4yrs NCB and see what the prices are. If they sound reasonable, and you've got your heart set on one, why not, an Elise would be an awesome car to have @ 21 if you can afford it! :D

Agreed although due to the type of car I think you will get hammered. (your age doesn't help even with 4yrs NCB)

But try and see, I may be wrong and you can a nice cheap quote.

Just don't try insurance from the people who run easy jet. £4300 they wanted for me on a A2 1.4TDI.

If he can afford the car, running costs and insurance, why shouldn't he buy an Elise?

I highly doubt he ll afford to run one ;) But of course if you feel you can, why not?

NO SWEARING hell! I'll have a go, I really want one, and running costs fuel etc... arent too bad, best mate is a very good mechanic own garage so not a problem. Insurance is the only issue, I'll do a quote....

I'd try multiple companies directly (don't use Confused.com or any other "we'll search eleventy billion insurers" service), and you'll likely find someone that'll give you a good price :)

Check out any owner's clubs/forums, and see if any of those have any deals/discounts with insurance companies for club members, that may be a good bet :)

How the hell do you know what he can afford and what he cant. I run a CTR @ 21 with no problem, souds like jealousy to me.

An elise at 21 with 4 years NCB is easily do-able. Best of luck to you mate :)

thanks very much for the support mate, was expecting a few come back when your 30 comments. I aint rich, but have a £100 a month living arrangement and a focus thats worth about 6grand. my commute is 5 miles and dont care about comfort. I have had bikes in the past, and want a nice weekend car, cant think of a better one! The insurance is going to be the only thing that trips me up.

The insurance is the only worry you should have. They're not hugely practical, but at 21 do you really want a practical car?

nope, practical is not what I'm after in the slightest. Its an excuse for someone else to do the things you would need a boot/5 seats! :D

Id be suprised if insurance was over £1k at 21 with 4 years NCB. shop around a LOT :)

its been something i have been considering for a weekend car, because the S1 is cheap now. wait and see i guess.

guess whos getting an elise in december. Fully comp 12 moths.
Elise 111 2000 - £1551
Elise 111s 2000 - £1620
YAY :D I think thats just about do-able. thats first quote with elephant.

Jealous of an elise? lol. Not bad quotes and if you can afford it thats awesome! I know I couldnt afford one but i dont live at home no more at 21 :(

thanks, just got to not have a crash this year and I'm home free! Touching all wood around me!!!! :D My insurance on focus will run out about 8 days before my birthday though, so dont know what I'll do for a week but other than that looks good.
