Couldn't see a thread about this so here we go.

I know Dan Brown has picked up the stigma of being almost 'the' author for novel noobs, but I for one enjoyed all his books, especially the Robert Langdon ones, and am looking forward to the third in the RL series. This one is set after Da Vinci code and spans just 12 hours so it should be pretty fast paced. As always there should be some sneaky twists and puzzles to be answered.

It's out on the 15th.

Not the best books in the world, but ideal for filling flights/train journeys etc, I'll probably pick up the new one as I liked all his others. :)

Absolute literary trash.

 I thoroughly enjoyed Da Vinci Code and Angels & Demons, didnt think they were "trash" at all. Its only book snobs and people that like to be different that say such things. My mum reads hundreds of books from all genres and she enjoyed both so they cant be that bad imo

His books are bad, but if they encourage people to read who otherwise wouldn't, then good luck to him. Who knows - some of those newbies may move onto better things.

That said, given some of the rubbish I've seen recommended in threads on Fantasy and SF, there are any number of people in this forum living in glass houses.

I've only read Angels & Demons and The Da Vinci Code, mainly to see what the fuss is about and they're passable enough to waste a bit of time but on the strength of them I'd definitely not be going out of my way to read more Dan Brown - there are literally millions of books that deserve my time more.

The Da Vinci Code was very readable and succeeded in keeping me entertained. Not the greatest thing I have ever read but I'm not going to deny that I was caught up in the story. I absolutely kicked myself that I couldn't guess who the bad guy was - it was so damn obvious! I also think Lord of the Rings was the most boring book I have ever read - I couldn't even finish it. Horses for courses.

I do however find it very amusing how Dan Brown chapters seem to end in a similar fashion to goosebump books.

"He then returned to his room, alone. Or so he thought..." :D

Just got back with my copy. Going to make a start tonight and hopefully finish it on the coach to London tomorrow. I have no doubt that I can guess the plot and twists, even now... But I've had such a good time reading all of his books, I can't see this one being any different. :)

Just a quick tip, I picked my hard back copy up tonight before the actual release date, at Britain's lowest priced supermarket for £5. :D In case anyone is interested. ;)

Dan Brown's a multimillionaire with two commercially successful movies adapted from his works. He's probably right now in the middle of the Bahamas sipping some exotic cocktail surrounded by beautiful women whilst snorting lines of coke and driving around in a Ferrari. If "literary trash" gets him all this then good luck to him.

Liked all his books Ive read so far and picked up this one for £7 - cheaper than a cinema ticket, or even a few dvd's, well worth the money imo

To be fair if his books get people reading who weren't before, then all good. I enjoyed the others so will probably get this one.
