New E60 M5 owner, just had her detailed. I love Interlagos Blue!

£15k?!?!?!? What?! When did these get so cheap? It feels like just yesterday Spie was bragging on here about his new one when they very first came out, and I know there's a new M5 now but that's a stonking amount of performance for £15k

The renewal for this last year with less than 60k and £250 excess was £612. I'm led to believe over 60k will be getting on for £1000, but I don't know exactly how much.

That is really cheap, my 530d was £83 per month for comprehensive BMW warranty/recovery, zero excess though.

Absolutely lovely car though.

A Zero Excess Comprehensive policy is £2906 a year (less a small discount for cars already on cover). It's £2500 with £100 excess, or £2000 with £250.

It seems odd you don't know that already though, I mean surely you did your homework regarding ownership costs before buying a car of this calibre :p

It's cheap because it's incorrect. He says it has the full cover until November - this cannot be the case if it was £612. Comprehensive with £250 excess on a sub 60k M5 is £900.

I'd imagine what it has is Named Component cover without Emergency Service, not Comprehensive.

I thought there must be a mistake.

Over 60k miles turns an expensive warranty up to 11

I'm sorry, but paying £3000 a year warranty is madness. I know M5's cost a lot to run, but nearly £3000 in unscheduled repair costs just isn't a realistic figure to me. Not to mention that as the mileage increases, it only gives BMW more ammo to say "Yeh, that's failed due to wear and tear - we ain't covering it!".

I must admit it is hard to justify the £3000 a year cost. I wouldnt pay that - I'd simply take it as a massive warning about the car and simply purchase something else, or a lower mileage one for the lower rate policy.

it will be interesting to see what happens with these cars.

hot versions filter down the market and end up being trashed along the way.

seeing as the v10 m5 appears to be completely unusable outside its warranty i dont think the usual filter process will take place. will the cars just end up valueless?

No, because as they depreciate they will be purchased by people whose pre-purchase research consists of asking if its proper wicked or not and nothing more. Then they'll get bodged and bailed on once they break.

I never was much of a fan of the E60's looks but the M5 does look okay, especially in this colour.

That engine however; I'm a massive fan :D
